Official ADTP1 drivers and support
Use the exact ADTP1 support page to separate Windows print drivers from its USB Driver item. The latter serves virtual COM communication and is not an automatic requirement for every PC print setup.
Confirm Monarch ADTP1 and fitted options
Avery Dennison Monarch Tabletop Printer 1 (ADTP1) prints direct-thermal or thermal-transfer labels/tags continuously or on demand. Distinguish ADTP2 and EcoCut and confirm fitted wireless, RFID, peel and liner-take-up options. The AF handbook specifies 203 dpi; compare the actual Printer Information report. Identity is confirmed by the ADTP1 entry in the product catalog and exact manuals.

Print drivers and the virtual-serial INF
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| Print mode | The model support page offers Microsoft Windows drivers and a Seagull route. Their role differs from the virtual-serial INF. |
| Serial USB | The current page describes ADTPx.zip for Windows 8 or older and says this INF is unnecessary on Windows 10 or newer. This does not remove the need for the appropriate print driver. |
| Windows file | AVERYMON_5200_7003.zip — the currently linked filename, not a verified internal version, model payload, CPU, signature or installation result. |
| Tools | MPCL Toolbox configures/transfers files; bootloader and printer/RFID firmware are separate. Do not treat a firmware change as the first diagnostic step. |
| OS / CPU | Current Windows releases, ARM64, macOS and Linux installation compatibility were not established here. Check the chosen package’s requirements. |
USB port, serial and Ethernet roles
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| Device USB | USB 2.0 port for PC data. |
| Host USB | Two host ports serve peripherals such as a keyboard, scanner or thumb drive. Distinguish the PC device port. |
| Serial / LAN | Serial and Ethernet communication are documented. Have the administrator compare host/printer values; do not replace working addresses with sample values. |
| Wireless | Wireless is optional. A shared menu or antenna illustration does not establish that it is installed. |
Stock path, ribbon and head latch
The roll must turn freely. Label rolls can unwind from either side; tag rolls unwind from the bottom. Follow the illustrated path under the tension bar, guide nibs and die-cut sensor. Guides should barely touch the stock and be locked with the supply lever. Close the head until it clicks, close the cover, then use FEED to position stock. Follow the full illustrated loading sequence without forcing parts. Direct-thermal stock uses no ribbon; thermal transfer requires matching ribbon and administrator settings.
Stock path 2-3–2-6 / PDF 13–16
Thermal mode / ribbon 3-1 / PDF 27
Pause, cancel and restart scope
During printing, PAUSE interrupts the job and the LCD is green; ENTER can resume the current batch. Cancel Batch affects the current batch, while Cancel All affects queued batches. Restart Batch starts again with the original quantity and may duplicate labels. Device cancellation and a PC spooler action need not have the same scope.
TLABEL device reports and PC jobs
- With stock, required ribbon and the closed head ready, select TLABEL from the Main Menu.
- Printer Information reports usage/resolution; MPCL Label reports packet configuration; Mnet2 Label reports network/Ethernet configuration.
- RFID Configuration concerns the fitted module. Select the relevant report and do not copy sample IP, firmware or region values into the device.

Nine code groups and next actions
Record the complete code. Red calls attention to a jam/error; green is used during activity and also during pause. Compare the code and job state together.
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| 411 | Have the administrator compare printer and host communication values. |
| 614 | Ask the administrator to check off-tag fields and invalid packet characters. |
| 703 / 704 | Match loaded stock to the supply-type setting, such as die-cut versus black mark. |
| 750 | Switch off and allow the printhead to cool. |
| 751 / 752 / 753 | Check/load stock and clean the sensor as directed; compare ENTER continuation after resolving the cause. |
| 754 | Check/load ribbon, then use ENTER to continue. |
| 755 | Close the printhead to continue. |
| 758 | Check jams/path/loading. Removing a label too quickly in on-demand mode can also cause it. |
| 763 | Waiting to dispense a label; the handbook directs FEED. |
Eight cause checks
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| PC only | Common host check: compare the actual ADTP1 queue, connection and selected OS. Check → |
| USB mode | Distinguish Device/Host ports and Printer/Virtual Serial modes. Check → |
| No feed | Check stock, ribbon, jams and the head latch. Check → |
| Blank stock | Have the administrator compare format and stock dimensions. Check → |
| Poor print | Compare head, stock and ribbon; follow approved care before arbitrary pressure changes. Check → |
| Duplicate job | Compare Restart/Repeat Batch and resubmission. Check → |
| LCD code | Record the complete code and state rather than judging by color alone. Check → |
| Device / PC | A device TLABEL print does not prove the host queue or driver works. Check → |
Compare Printer and Virtual Serial modes
The May 2025 AW administrator guide distinguishes Printer and Virtual Serial at Main Menu → Setup → Port Settings → USB Comm and says changing the mode reboots the printer. Record the working mode/port and involve the administrator before changes. The guide discusses the virtual-serial INF generally; the current model page more specifically says it is unnecessary for Windows 10 or newer. Do not generalize older installation wording to every current OS.
Approved care and complete drying
The care sequence starts with power off, opening the cover/head and removing stock/ribbon. For adhesive build-up or contamination after a jam, the handbook specifies a 90% isopropyl-alcohol-moistened swab on the designated head, sensors and rollers; reload only when dry. Avoid naphtha/petroleum solvents on the platen. Keep fingers and sharp tools off the head and do not spray liquid onto the printer. Follow the approximately three-roll/ribbon-change or condition-based intervals in the manual; seek service for persistent faults or head replacement.
Official evidence and verification scope
Checked 21 October 2026 against the current official ADTP1 product-catalog entry, model support and manual index, the 44-page AF operator handbook (February 2024) and 94-page AW administrator guide (May 2025). Sixteen selected full operator pages and three administrator pages were visually reviewed. ZIP checks used HEAD only; no package execution, installation, signature validation, physical printing, settings change, firmware or RFID operation was performed.
