QX20 official app download route

Open Canon’s SELPHY Photo Layout portal and follow the official iOS or Android store route. Check your phone’s current store requirements. This is the model’s mobile-app download route; do not install an unrelated Windows or Mac print driver.

Exact model and mobile printing

SELPHY QX20 is a compact dye-sublimation photo printer. The exact-model guide specifies printing through SELPHY Photo Layout for iOS and Android; the supplied USB cable is for charging, not communication. Match QX20 on the label before choosing software.

App, PC and firmware scope

ComponentScope
Mobile appThe QX20 specifications require SELPHY Photo Layout 4.0.0 or later for iOS/Android. Install the current suitable release and follow its prompts.
PC / cableUSB-C charges the built-in battery. Connecting a PC print queue over that cable is not the documented print path.
FirmwareIf the app requests printer firmware, compare the exact model and battery condition. Do not turn off or force-shut down during an update. App software and device firmware are separate.

USB-C charging conditions

Use the included cable and a charger rated at least DC 5 V, 1.5 A; Canon recommends PD-E1/PD-E2. Green CHARGE blinking means charging, steady green means complete. Printing pauses charging. About 80 minutes is a room-temperature reference; the specification allows about four hours after full discharge or extended storage. Charging · Conditions

Direct Wi-Fi and app registration

The printer provides direct 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, with up to six connected devices. Internet access may be unavailable during the direct link. Start the app, enable the location service it requests and turn off phone power-saving features for setup. Scan the QR label inside the ink compartment to register. If its password was changed, use manual registration; check the actual app error before changing settings. Keep the QR/password private. App setup · Connection checks

XS-20LSquare-format sticker stock: paper 72 × 85 mm. Use its matching ink cassette; paper dimensions are not the square image dimensions.
XC-20LCard-format sticker stock: paper 54 × 85 mm. Match the ink cassette to the selected paper size.
LoadingUp to ten sheets, no-Canon-logo print side down. Raise guides for card paper; leave them down for square stock. Align to the illustrated marks, not the compartment back.

Compare one photo from the app

With suitable ink and paper loaded, send one small photo from the registered app. Wait until the phone requests removal; paper travels in and out several times. Do not pull it mid-pass or open either compartment during operation. This compares the mobile app, wireless link and printer together. Load and print diagrams · During printing

Six selected paired-lamp groups

Lamp groupMeaning
White steadySTATUS white, CHARGE off: ready, not charging.
White rapidSTATUS rapid white, CHARGE off: remove the completed printout.
Red slowSTATUS slow red + CHARGE slow green: charging paused outside the operating temperature range; let the printer cool when hot.
Red blinkingWith CHARGE off: check the app’s actual error message.
Red + greenSTATUS blinking red + CHARGE blinking green: battery too low to print; charge it.
Red rapidWith CHARGE off: restart guidance. With CHARGE rapid green: battery error. These are different paired states.

These are six selected lamp groups, not numbered error codes. Read STATUS and CHARGE together and keep the phone message. Canceling a multi-sheet job stops after the current sheet; heat can also lengthen a job. For charging errors or a persistent jam, follow the exact guide and Canon service advice.
