Find official CX-02 Windows/Mac downloads, USB Type-B, five-sheet media initialization and nine light states. Distinguish CX-02W-only errors and sticker models.
Official CX-02 driver downloads
Check that CX-02 is selected on Citizen’s official page, then choose the operating system. Windows and macOS drivers are separate entries; review the terms and installation requirements for the actual file.

Distinguish CX-02, CX-02(S) and CX-02W
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| CX-02 | This guide covers the standard photo-media model. Check the destination suffix, including (A), and consumables against the actual label. |
| CX-02(S) | Sticker-media model. Do not assume its consumables are interchangeable with ordinary CX-02 media. |
| CX-02W | Separate wide-format series. Its A4/8-inch media and missing-scrap-box error must not be applied to CX-02. |

Windows/Mac listings and their limits
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| Windows | The European CX-02 result lists Windows 7, 8, 10 and 11. Japan’s official list identifies CX-02_Driver_V1022.zip, 5 September 2024, 42.7MB. The two regional payloads were not compared. |
| Mac | The exact European CX-02 result includes macOS Driver. Its OS label is Mac OS; this listing alone does not establish a current macOS version or Apple Silicon requirements. |
| Linux | A Linux option in the site-wide selector is not proof of a CX-02 package. No exact-model Linux package was verified in this result. |
Installer downloads, execution, signatures and CPU architectures were not tested. Distinguish the older OS list on the product page from the current download results.
Check the printer’s USB connection
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| USB 2.0 Type-B | Connect the rear USB data port to the computer. The manual specifies a shielded USB 2.0 cable; follow the selected driver’s instructions for when to connect it. |
| Network printing | The verified hardware interface is USB. Treat sharing through a PC or external server as a separate common diagnostic route; do not assume built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or Ethernet. |

Four checks before changing media
- Check the CX-02 paper/ribbon pairing on the labels. The 5×7-inch group uses 127mm paper and 134mm ribbon; the 4×6/6×8/6×9-inch group uses 152mm paper and 159mm ribbon.
- Handle media on its clean wrapping sheet. Mixing different media widths in one printer can cause lines and other print-quality problems.
- Empty the scrap box at paper changes and refit it before printing. Do not pull it diagonally or touch the cutter above it.
- Use the paper tray only for L/PC sizes and remove prints regularly. Follow the official illustrations for paper and ribbon orientation.

Distinguish five-sheet initialization from a photo test
- Load the paper/ribbon in the manual’s order and refit the scrap box and covers.
- Closing the mechanism starts media initialization, ejecting five blank sheets to remove the exposed outer layer.
- If the switch is set to ON only after loading, this initialization is skipped. The presence or absence of blank sheets alone does not identify a driver fault.
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| Five blank sheets | Media initialization, rather than a photo/nozzle test or a claimed standalone self-test button. |
| Check photo output | Common PC check: send one small job with matching media size and record both the output and light pattern. |
| PC-only failure | Common PC check: compare the exact CX-02 driver, queue and USB route. |
Official manual PDF: 19
Compare application, queue and USB
- Common PC check: compare application paper size with loaded media. A size mismatch is indicated by alternating paper/ribbon lights.
- Common PC check: compare the selected queue with the actual USB route, including any shared-PC path.
- Common PC check: inspect pending jobs before resending. Persistent hardware media/door errors need their own checks.

Nine light-pattern checks
Record the light name, colour, steady/flashing state and alternating behavior together. These are CX-02 conditions; no numeric error codes are inferred.
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| PAPER orange flashing | POWER green on; RIBBON/ERROR off: paper end. Load a new roll. |
| RIBBON orange flashing | POWER green on; PAPER/ERROR off: ribbon end. Fit a new ribbon. |
| PAPER and ERROR flashing | POWER green on; RIBBON off: mechanism open without paper. Load paper correctly and close it. |
| ERROR red flashing | POWER green on; PAPER/RIBBON off: mechanism open. Keep the CX-02W-only missing-box row separate. |
| PAPER and ERROR on | POWER green, PAPER orange and ERROR red on; RIBBON off: paper error. Check loading. |
| RIBBON and ERROR on | POWER green, RIBBON orange and ERROR red on; PAPER off: ribbon error. Check ribbon loading. |
| RIBBON/PAPER flash alternately | POWER green on; ERROR off: media-size error. Match the job size to the installed media. |
| ERROR red on | POWER green on; PAPER/RIBBON off: system error. If an ON/Standby reset does not recover it, contact the dealer. |
| POWER green flashing | All other lights off: head cooling. This clears automatically. |
Eight causes and the exact-model driver
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| PC cannot find printer | Common check: inspect the USB data cable, actual queue and exact-model driver. Check details |
| Paper end/feed error | Distinguish flashing PAPER from steady PAPER plus ERROR. Check details |
| Ribbon end/error | Distinguish flashing RIBBON from steady RIBBON plus ERROR. Check details |
| Mechanism open | Check paper presence and mechanism closure. Check details |
| Wrong photo size | For alternating flashes, match installed media and job size. Check details |
| Blank sheets after loading | Distinguish five-sheet initialization from a blank photo job. Check details |
| Head cooling wait | Check the POWER-only flashing pattern and allow automatic recovery. Check details |
| Jam/stopped cut | Avoid forcing the mechanism and use the applicable official recovery procedure. Check details |
Separate jams, partial cuts and interrupted power
For a jam, follow pages 23–24: the roll is rewound and paper is removed forward, away from the printer. Use lint-free protective gloves; stop and seek service if strong force is needed. Wrinkled or partly printed paper can jam again.
Page 26 gives separate recovery instructions for a stopped partial cut and interrupted printing power. Its Standby→ON step applies to those stopped conditions; do not force a mechanism locked after power loss or switch to Standby during active printing.

Official evidence and verification scope
Checked 24 October 2026. Europe’s CX-02 manual list links the 30-page English User Guide v1.24; seventeen relevant complete pages were visually reviewed. PDF and printed page numbers match. It is not represented as identical to the newer Japanese listing. No driver licence acceptance, installer execution or physical printing was performed.
