LabelWriter 550 connects to a PC or Mac by USB. The official table lists built-in LAN for 550 Turbo and 5XL, not the ordinary 550. It uses direct thermal printing, so ink or toner replacement does not apply.
Match DYMO Connect to your operating system
The support center checked on 2026-10-10 lists DYMO Connect for Desktop v1.6.3 for Windows 10 or later and macOS 14 or later. Older product-page compatibility text can differ from current installer requirements. Select the appropriate Windows or Mac type on the official support page.
Separate label recognition or feeding from driver failure
The 5 Series requires compatible DYMO-branded labels for automatic recognition. Check compatibility and loading before reinstalling software for an unknown-label error. For jams, excessive feeding or poor output, use the official 5 Series cleaning instructions rather than another generation’s procedure.
DYMO Connect prints, another application fails
Compare a small label in DYMO Connect. If it works there, inspect the other application’s label size, orientation, selected device and platform integration. If no application detects the printer, investigate direct USB connection and the matching software package.
