Read the complete model number from the device label, including any suffix. Search the catalog for that exact number.
2. Check operating-system compatibility
Open the manufacturer’s official support page and select your operating-system version and architecture. Do not assume that a driver for a similar model is compatible.
3. Install using a supported connection
For USB, follow the installer’s prompts before connecting the cable. For Ethernet or Wi-Fi, confirm your model supports that connection, then ensure the printer and computer are on the appropriate network.
4. Test the result
Print a test page. If your device scans or faxes, test those functions and install any separate package the manufacturer provides.
Common problems
If the printer is not found, check its power, connection, and network. Remove an incompatible old driver only if the manufacturer’s instructions call for it, then reinstall from the official page.
