WindowsThe listing separates Windows781011Driver-R12V2.08-202503 ZIP from WindowsXpDriver-R10-V2_06… ZIP. Filenames do not establish installed versions, build dates or ARM64 support.
LinuxLinuxDriver-R3-V1.05b-BETA-202403 ZIP is marked BETA. The manual’s Linux/CUPS/ARM/64-bit line does not certify every distribution or the current package’s CPU scope.
Install notesBoth linked USB/RS232 notes explicitly describe X56, Windows 7/8/10 and R9 V2.05. Do not transplant their 12/24V supply or automatic HENGSTLER X-56 queue selection to X-80. Current macOS support and installer screens remain unverified.

X-80 kiosk printer and matching stock

ItemCheck and action
ModelX-80 is a 203dpi direct-thermal printer. Manual p.32 specifies 24V DC ±5% for X-80; the X-56 12V entry above it is separate. Follow the fitted unit label and approved supply.
WidthX-80 takes 60–86mm stock with an 80mm print width. Common 80mm and 82.5mm stock needs matching guides. Stock width and printable width differ.
CutterManual p.31 separates Twincut partial/full cut at 50–120g/m², full-cut-only at 50–160g/m² and rotary full cut at 50–250g/m². Match stock to the installed cutter.

The linked v2.1 sheet is dated 7 February 2013 and lists USB 1.1, 24V ±10% and Windows 2000/XP/7. These differ from the 2022 v1.12 manual; do not merge them into a supply or OS guarantee.

USB, RS-232 and supply checks

ItemCheck and action
USBUSB versions use a 5-pin Mini-B at the printer (p.21). Check the correct cable and full insertion. RS232 shown beside the USB illustration is an alternative interface.
RS-232Use the matching Hengstler serial cable and actual COM port. Factory settings are 115200 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, hardware flow control. Match the host to the unit’s current information report.
SupplyDo not connect or remove the DC plug under load (p.8). Grounding and voltage-drop problems can disrupt communication or damage equipment. Leave kiosk supply/wiring work to the integrator.

Use the information report to separate device and host faults

  1. With printing stopped, check matching stock and the OUT head position, then use automatic loading below. A report follows loading unless automatic information printing was disabled.
  2. If automatic output is disabled, manual p.24 specifies three IN-then-OUT cycles of the blue head control. This is not a power-plus-FEED sequence or factory reset.
  3. Record device, firmware and serial settings. A local report does not prove the PC driver works. As a common host check, compare the actual queue, port and pending job before checking the driver.

Automatic loading and handling limits

Manual pp.24–25: pull the head control OUT to lower the head; offer paper into the rear slot with the thermal side up. When sensing starts the motor, feed until the platen takes over. Use an outside-coated thermal roll and normal automatic loading; using only the manual wheel can prevent proper detection.

IN raises the head and prevents printing/loading; OUT is the ready position. Do not change paper during printing. Have the integrator assess persistent cutter faults and obstructions. Keep fingers clear of blades and never move the cutter while powered.

The manual describes the printer as requiring no routine maintenance (p.28). No generic alcohol-cleaning, density changes, firmware update or spooler-stop command is prescribed here.

X-80 will not print: cause checks

ItemCheck and action
No lightsCheck supply connection/outlet first. The manual’s PCB fuse fault requires authorized repair rather than field replacement.
No feedCheck whether the head is raised IN; it must be lowered OUT for loading/printing. Loading
Blank stockCheck thermal side, roll orientation and approved stock. Compare the local report before reinstalling a host driver. Information report
Exit/cutterRecord LEDs and distinguish cutter/chute-sensor options. Direct sunlight on the chute sensor can produce false readings (p.15). LED states
Serial linkCompare report baud/parity/flow control and the actual COM port. Factory defaults may differ from current settings. Connections
Host onlyCommon check: if local output works, inspect the X-80 queue, port and exact OS file. Do not blindly select the X56 note’s queue name. Same X-80 driver guide

Nine green/red LED combinations

Upper LED is red; lower is green. Rows show green / red. Slow=0.5Hz, Medium=5Hz, F=10Hz flicker; 0 is one second off and 1 one second on. These timing patterns are not decimal error codes or simple flash counts.

ItemCheck and action
Slow / OffPaper loaded and ready.
Medium / OffOut of paper.
F / OnFont/image/firmware upload, distinct from normal job communication. Do not disconnect or power off.
F 0 F / OnShared by raised head, stall or overvoltage; not a unique diagnosis.
F 010 F / OnPaper error.
F 01010 F / OnCutter error.
Off / OnBoot failure.
F / FInitialization error.
On / OnSystem stalled during initialization; seek support if persistent.
