DTC1250e is a direct-to-card ID printer using dye sublimation / resin thermal transfer. Match the exact DTC1250e and fitted single/dual-sided and encoding configuration; shared-guide DTC4250e and DTCii Plus features are not automatic DTC1250e features. Official DTC1250e product
Choose the OS package and firmware generation
Official file pages checked 2026-10-15 explicitly name DTC1250e. Open the relevant driver page below and review its requirements and licence. Printing software, card encoders and printer firmware are different components.
| Platform | Official file | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | 6.0.0.13 · 2026-10-06 · 73.77 MB | Lists Windows 11 and Server 2019 / 2022 / 2025. The page does not establish x86/x64/ARM support. |
| Linux | 1.4.0.5 · 2023-07-25 · 44.94 MB | Lists NeoKylin 7/10, Ubuntu 14.04/16.04/18.04/20.04 and Unity OS; not every current distribution or CPU. |
| Mac OS X | 1.3.2.7 · 2015-01-06 · 8.43 MB | Lists 10.6–10.9, firmware 1.0.4.7 or later. 10.10 is explicitly not officially supported; modern macOS / Apple Silicon are unverified. |
The current 4.0.0.26 firmware page requires driver v6.x with firmware v4.x; v5.x with v4.x is not a validated or supported pair. For Legacy printers, upgrading to v4.x prevents reverting to v3.x. Record the current versions and plan any paired change with the administrator or HID support. This guide does not perform an update. The manual’s older Windows table is not the OS list of this new package.
Check fitted ports and card stock
USB 2.0 is documented; the current product describes Ethernet with an internal print server as optional. Inspect the fitted sockets before selecting a network queue. Duplex and encoders also depend on fitted options. Manual p. 15 / Current options
Use the correct ribbon cartridge and clean, compatible card stock. The product and manual specification table list CR-79/CR-80; p.26 instead says CR-70 while its illustrated dropdown says CR-79. This inconsistent line is not a recommendation to use CR-70 or guess mechanical slide positions. Manual p. 14 / Manual p. 21 / Manual p. 22 / Manual p. 26
Print a device settings card
For the documented non-display controls, with the printer already ready and idle, hold Pause for at least four seconds to print a Printer Settings card. Holding Pause during power-up has separate alignment/self-test and language effects. Do not substitute that startup action. Manual p. 70
Common host check: compare the device settings card with one ordinary PC job. A good device card does not verify the computer queue, connection or DTC1250e driver download. The base model uses button indications and PC messages; optional displays and other models require their own fitted-control instructions.
Button indications and error solutions
Eight selected message groups below cover 12 documented numbers. The PC can show the detailed message even without a printer LCD. Red flashes alone do not identify a numeric code. For repair work, disconnect power and use qualified service; do not force the mechanism. Manual p. 8 / Manual p. 71
Four documented button states
| State | Meaning / action | Source |
|---|---|---|
| ON/OFF blue | Powered on; dim blue can mean sleep. | Manual p. 70 |
| Pause blue | Ready to accept jobs; can remain blue while printing. | Manual p. 70 |
| Pause flashes red | Error: read the PC message. In an error state, Pause retries and ON/OFF cancels. | Manual p. 70 / Manual p. 71 |
| Both buttons flash blue | An upgrade is in progress; do not classify every flash as a driver fault. | Manual p. 70 |
Eight selected error groups
| Code / condition | Check / action | Source / next step |
|---|---|---|
| #25 / #91 · ribbon missing / exhausted | Fit the correct cartridge; replace exhausted ribbon. | Manual p. 72 / Manual p. 73 |
| #70 / #81 · multiple feed / no feed | Match thickness, separate sticking cards and check the cleaning roller; then retry. | Manual p. 71 / Manual p. 73 |
| #93 · wrong ribbon | Match loaded ribbon to the selected driver ribbon type. | Manual p. 73 / DTC1250e driver download |
| #100 · ribbon tag | Check ribbon settings and try a correct new cartridge. | Manual p. 73 |
| #45 · no flipper | Match the second-side request to the actual fitted duplex module. | Manual p. 72 / DTC1250e driver download |
| #31 / #202 · no encoder | Remove unintended encoding data or use the correct fitted encoder. | Manual p. 72 / Manual p. 74 |
| #106 · job data | Check the cable; cancel that job with ON/OFF and resend. Check the queue separately if only PC jobs fail. | Manual p. 74 / DTC1250e driver download |
| #110 / #112 · card jam / alignment | Follow the manual for the actual card path, then retry; recurring mechanical faults need service. | Manual p. 74 |
