Exact YKC-01 product and Download centre
Open the official YKC-01 pageOpen Download centre from the product page and confirm its TYKC-01-A list. The software configures printer parameters; distinguish it from the print driver, USB port mode and firmware.
Separate the offered file and USB modes
| Check | Documented scope |
|---|---|
| Utility | On 30 October 2026 the exact list offers Software - full version 1.0 linking YKC-01_SW_Tool.zip. No payload was requested or run; OS, CPU, signature and runtime compatibility remain unverified. |
| Printer / CDC | The model-specific software guide distinguishes USB Type Printer (USB printing) and CDC (USB to RS232 printing). Compare the actual mode with the PC queue or COM route. |
| Scope | Manual Version 1.0, the Setting Tools V2.0 window and the listed ZIP version are different labels. They do not prove one executable version. BT_Name/BT_Password are N/A in the exact-model guide; shared Bluetooth fields do not prove wireless support. |
Opening a port and using Set to send configuration have different effects. Record the current port/print settings first and follow the actual tool version’s documentation. Windows screenshots do not certify modern Windows, ARM, Mac or Linux drivers.
Confirm TYKC-01-A and paper orientation
| Check | Documented scope |
|---|---|
| Model | The trade name is YKC-01 and type is TYKC-01-A. Do not borrow power, media or button procedures from YKB/YKN models. |
| Paper | The 2024 manual lists 80 mm paper, 72 mm print width, maximum roll diameter 83 mm and 250 mm/s. Open with the tray release, lead the end out with the coated side facing the user, close and tear off excess at the strip. |
| Ports | RS232 is the standard instrument connection. The rear diagram also labels USB and cash drawer separately. The cash-drawer connector is not an Ethernet or telephone connection. |
| Limits | The 2024 manual says 20–80% humidity; the 24 October 2026 sheet says 20–85%. Do not combine them into a higher approved limit; confirm the actual unit with KERN. Match the original KERN power supply and label. |
Adapter cable and matching transfer settings
| Check | Documented scope |
|---|---|
| RS232 | Disconnect printer power before attaching cables. The 2025 configuration guide requires the enclosed adapter in addition to the instrument’s interface cable. Use its series-specific cable table. |
| Values | The 2025 reference is 9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, parity None and RTS/CTS. Print the current settings and compare both devices; do not force these values onto every instrument. |
| Port | The utility FAQ identifies a wrong or occupied port as connection-failure causes. For setting failures, also compare serial parameters and printer power. |
Settings printout: release after one Error indication
- Switch the printer off, then hold the front paper-feed button, distinct from the tray-release button.
- Press the power button while holding feed; watch for the Error indicator to light once.
- Release feed to print the current settings. Compare this with PC settings; it does not certify every communication or print function.
This follows page 10 of the exact operating manual. The software supplement instead uses a power-on-beep cue; the two descriptions have not been merged into an invented timing rule.
Distinguish mode entry from operating faults
A steady power indicator means the unit is on; the chain-shaped Mode indicator denotes standby. Steady Paper means no paper (worded Paper blank in the guide), while off is normal. Steady Error means an open tray; compare operating flashes with the table below.
During a feed-held startup, one indication is the settings-print cue; waiting for four is a HEX-mode entry procedure. Those counts are distinct from operating faults. If already in HEX mode, page 12 documents three feed presses to exit. No factory reset or improvised internal repair is prescribed.
Eight operating Error-flash patterns
Record the flash count and context for KERN support. These counts are not numeric error codes or a blink interval in seconds. No internal-circuit or voltage-adjustment procedure is given.
| Check | Documented scope |
|---|---|
| 1 flash | A memory read/write fault. Distinguish the startup settings-print cue described above. |
| 2 flashes | The guide identifies overvoltage. Check the correct original adapter/label and refer persistent faults to support. |
| 3 flashes | The English wording is Too little tension. Do not turn this into a paper-tension adjustment; confirm the power/fault context with KERN. |
| 4 flashes | A CPU address fault. Distinguish it from the four-indication HEX-mode startup procedure. |
| 5 flashes | The guide labels this UIB error. It does not expand the abbreviation; do not relabel it as a USB fault. |
| 6 flashes | A FLASH writing fault. A firmware update or internal-memory manipulation is not an established remedy here. |
| 7 flashes | A parameter-saving fault. Record the setting attempted and the indication for support. |
| 8 flashes | A temperature-detection-circuit fault. Do not classify it as merely a paper or PC-driver problem. |
Follow the matching YKC-01 check
| Check | Documented scope |
|---|---|
| Software | This YKC-01 official route and USB modes / setup tools should be compared. |
| Link | Cable, actual COM and transfer settings should be compared on both devices. |
| Report | The current-settings printout helps separate the printer from the PC/instrument path. |
| Paper | For blank output, check the coated side and loading direction. For no feeding, check the paper path and cable as well. |
| Modes | Diagnostic mode and indicator context should be checked before treating mode-entry counts as faults. |
| Fault | The eight flash patterns plus the adapter and preceding operation should be recorded for official support. |

Checked 30 October 2026. The operating manual is 14 pages, Version 1.0, May 2024; the model software guide is 8 pages, 1.0, October 2024; configuration is 4 pages, 1.0, March 2025. A separate 5-page shared-tool guide and the 24 October 2026 sheet were also compared. No installer/firmware execution, settings transfer or physical printing was performed.
