Direct-thermal receipts with front or top output
T-40 is Metapace’s direct-thermal receipt model. Match 57.5/80/82.5mm stock to its guide arrangement; no ribbon is used. Near-end adjustment depends on front/top output and the actual core: use the manual’s p13 chart.

Distinguish the dated list from actual installation requirements
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| Driver & Utility CD | The exact product page labels this November 2018, 95.47 MB. Its ZIP response did not complete during this check; inner drivers, signatures and CPU targets remain unverified. The old listing does not establish Windows 11 or ARM compatibility. |
| USB VCom / POS | USB VCom is separately listed October 2018, 2.35 MB. First confirm whether the POS application expects a printer queue or virtual serial communication. Android/iOS SDKs also differ from a normal PC print driver. |
| OS / CPU | The manual’s historical Windows list through Windows 10 and its Linux/Mac references are not a current requirements matrix. Verify the selected file’s actual OS build, distribution and CPU requirements. No installer or security bypass was run. |
Fitted data ports and the separate cash drawer
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| USB | The manual identifies USB as fixed on board; connect the printer’s USB data port to the host with printer power off. |
| Serial / Ethernet | The current datasheet advertises a USB/serial/Ethernet triple interface, while the manual distinguishes expandable configurations. Compare the actual rear ports, serial settings and network destination. |
| Drawer / wireless | The cash-drawer connector is not for telephone wiring. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are optional in the datasheet; confirm the fitted interface. |

Four paper-loading checks
- Switch off and confirm the actual thermal stock type and width; this printer does not use a transfer ribbon.
- Push the cover lever in the illustrated direction.
- Use the illustrated 57.5/80mm guide positions, or remove the guide for 82.5mm stock. The thermal layer faces outward; keep the roll tightly wound and level.
- Check the illustrated winding/feed direction and close the cover. Stock width is not the same as printable width.
Separate the FEED self-test, configuration and DUMP modes
- Load the paper correctly and close the cover.
- Confirm power is off and the POWER LED is off.
- Hold FEED while powering on, then release it. Configuration information and prompts print; the printer pauses with ERROR flashing.
- Press FEED briefly to print the character test and finish. Holding it instead enters button configuration.
For a printed Hexadecimal Dump mode, p14/p24 specify three FEED presses to exit; p14 also lists off/on. Keep this separate from the normal test’s pause.

Wired destinations and optional Wi-Fi scope
- Confirm the fitted wired or wireless interface first; a Wi-Fi setup document does not prove the option is installed.
- Common network check: compare the printer’s actual address, queue destination and current network; retain existing settings.
- The optional Wi-Fi sheet describes Windows 10 direct wireless setup. Do not transplant its example SSID, address or administrator commands into an existing router network.

Compare indicators with the observed symptom
Seven indicator / buzzer groups
POWER is green and ERROR red. Numbers below are cycle counts, not invented numeric error codes. Normal ERROR is off; distinguish the self-test pause.
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| 2 / 3 | Repeating two flashes/beeps indicates paper end; three indicates print head lift-up. Check paper and cover closure; seek support if it persists. |
| 4 | Repeating four flashes/beeps indicates cutter error. Use the powered-off jam procedure. |
| 5 | Repeating five flashes/beeps indicates abnormal voltage. Check the specified supply for the actual unit and seek support if persistent. |
| 6 | Repeating six flashes/beeps indicates head overheating. Switch off and let it cool. |
| Slow flash / no beep | The p7 table shares this pattern between paper near end and missing-mark/calibration faults; inspect both. |
| Near-end speed conflict | The p6 paragraph calls near-end flashing fast, while p7 calls it slow. Speed alone cannot identify a unique fault. |
| Steady ERROR / continuous beep | P22 treats this as a serious malfunction and directs dealer/manufacturer support. |

Eight cause checks and this model’s driver
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| PC/POS only | Common comparison: contrast device and PC output, then check this exact model’s files and queue. Check details |
| Hex data instead of receipt | Distinguish DUMP mode from the normal character self-test. Check details |
| Paper / cover | Inspect actual paper and cover closure. Check details |
| Cutter / feed jam | Follow the powered-off paper-path procedure. Check details |
| Faint or stained output | Check winding direction, suitable stock and head/platen cleanliness. Check details |
| Mark not detected | Distinguish near-end from the mark-sensor cleaning branch. Check details |
| Serial / network path | Compare actual ports, communication settings and addresses. Check details |
| Heat / voltage / continuous alarm | Record the pattern and use the relevant instructions or support. Check details |
Power off and cool before cleaning or jam access
For head/platen cleaning, switch off, let the head fully cool, use the manual’s wrung-out alcohol cotton and wait for evaporation before closure. Its mark-sensor procedure separately uses a wrung-out soft cloth with pure alcohol; refit the sensor cover and close only after evaporation. Do not use gasoline or acetone.
Jam Method 1: power off, open through the lever, remove jammed paper, close the cover and power on for automatic cutter reset. Read the full pictured Method 2 before handling its cutter cover; seek dealer help if access is difficult or the fault persists.
Official evidence and verification limits
Checked 23 October 2026. Sixteen complete pages of the 36-page manual plus the one-page datasheet and Wi-Fi sheet were visually reviewed. Main-text printed page=PDF page−3; contents pages differ. The two ZIP requests did not complete, so payloads, CRC, CPU targets, signatures and installation remain unverified. No installation, device setting changes or physical printing was performed.
Near-end flash speed and some specifications differ across sources; no single guarantee was inferred. Confirm actual approved roll diameter, adapter current and resolution details for the unit.
