Current file listings and OS/CPU scope
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| Windows | The current row lists v2.7.2.5, 1.16MB, 20 November 2022. Older manual screens use v2.7.2.1. Current device help excludes Windows ARM CPUs. |
| Mac | The row says v1.3.1, 60KB, 13 August 2021; its target filename says v1.3.2.pkg. The payload version is unverified. Manual examples use macOS 10.15 and v1.3.0. |
| Linux | The row lists v1.2.0, 49.5KB, 13 December 2020. The manual excludes CentOS 6.5, but its 64bit/86bit CPU wording is unclear. Do not infer modern distribution or ARM64 support. |

These are current public-list captions, not verified payloads, signatures or installation results. Confirm the PL60 file with POLONO when the Mac version differs or the OS is newer.
Older manual PDF page 34 suggests disabling security software. Do not use that as a routine fix. Start with current Windows 11 and driver guidance; ask the vendor or administrator about blocking/signature problems while keeping protection enabled.

Confirm the USB direct-thermal PL60 and stock
PL60 is a 203dpi direct-thermal label printer. Check the thermal stock and printable side rather than ink or toner. The manual separates 50–118mm media width from 50–108mm print width; printable width is not the full stock width.

Check USB and supported devices
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| USB | The actual specification and rear diagram show USB. Connect power with the switch off and use the original adapter. Files supplied on a USB drive are installation material for the computer. |
| Device limits | Exact PL60 help excludes Chromebook, Windows ARM, phones and tablets. Do not transfer another POLONO wireless model’s app support to PL60. |
| Generic port example | A serial-port example in the driver instructions does not establish physical RS-232 or Ethernet on PL60. Match the actual USB queue and model name. |

One blue flash for self-test; two for calibration
- Load the labels correctly and close the top cover.
- Switch on using the rear switch and wait until ready.
- Hold FEED while ready, then release at one blue flash to print the self-test. Do not substitute another model’s power-on button procedure.

| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| Once: self-test | Checks settings, status and quality independently of the PC. If good while PC jobs fail, check PL60 drivers and the actual queue. |
| Twice: calibration | While ready, hold FEED and release at two blue flashes. Use after media changes or sensor cleaning as documented; calibration is unavailable in continuous-paper mode. |

Ordinary FEED advances stock. During printing it pauses the job with flashing green; pressing again resumes. Interpret the button using both the current state and press condition.

Separate media path, sensing and cleaning
With power on, set guides to fanfold width and insert through the rear inlet for automatic loading. Align an external roll holder with the lower hooks. Match the normal-label sensor to the triangle diagram and the black-mark sensor to the actual mark.

For jams, use both cover levers, open, remove stock and reload. If cleaning the head/platen as part of recovery, first use the maintenance procedure’s separate power-off and cooling precautions.
Official PL60 manual PDF page 18
Before cleaning, switch off and let the head cool for about 2–3 minutes. Use a cleaning pen from the center outward, avoiding scratches and the heated surface. For roller/path residue, first remove dust with a dry cloth/swab, then use the manual’s medical-grade alcohol; no concentration or alcohol type is inferred.
Wait for complete evaporation and drying before use. The manual’s 1–2 minutes is an estimate, distinct from the overheating alert’s longer wait below.

PL60 printing-failure cause checks
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| PC driver / CPU | If self-test is good but PC jobs fail, compare PL60 downloads and OS/ARM exclusions. This is a common host-side check. |
| USB / queue | Compare the cable, connected PC and PL60 queue with the USB scope. |
| Skipped labels | Match stock type/sensor position and the two-flash calibration. |
| Cover / no paper | Distinguish steady and slowly flashing red in the light table. |
| Jam / residue | Check the path and use cleaning with power-off/drying precautions. |
| Paused / overheated | Flashing green and steady purple require different actions. Do not start by removing the driver. |
Nine light states, not invented numeric error codes
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| Steady blue | Ready. |
| Slow blue flash | Dump diagnostic mode; distinguish from normal ready. |
| Steady purple | Head overheated. Current help says to stop printing and wait more than 20 minutes before retrying. Avoid touching the head. |
| Steady red | Top cover not closed. |
| Slow red flash | Out of paper; load suitable stock. |
| Fast red flash | Abnormal calibration. Current help directs restart and two-blue-flash FEED calibration; check the continuous-paper restriction. |
| Slow orange flash | Jam or abnormal label positioning. Remove/reload stock; apply power-off/cooling precautions for any cleaning. |
| Steady green | Printing. |
| Slow green flash | Job paused; FEED resumes. |
