VP550 official downloads

The button opens the official download page at the VP550 section. Check the VP550 heading and Driver tab, then choose the VP550 file. Manual and Setup Guide tabs are beside it. A firmware announcement at the top of the page is a separate download.

VP550 is a Memjet color label printer. The 2026 model brochure lists 1,600 × 1,600 or 1,600 × 800 dpi, five 200 ml dye-ink tanks, and a 51–216 mm printable width. Use the model on the device label when selecting software; a shared VP5xx/VP6xx manual does not make the other models interchangeable. Official product

Software / sourceSelection and limits
Windows print driverThe VP550 section lists R16.2, dated 14 April 2025, with VP550_R16-2_2025-04-14.exe and .zip. Windows 11 64-bit and Windows 10 32/64-bit are among the listed systems; these are vendor listing labels.
CPU / other host systemsNo installer payload was inspected. The listing does not establish an ARM64 binary or runtime on a current Windows build. Exact VP550 Mac/Linux packages were not verified; confirm with the manufacturer before choosing a host.
Firmware / EWSThe separate firmware 16.2 notice concerns cartridge detection. It is not the PC print driver even though its number resembles R16.2. The embedded web server (EWS) is the printer’s browser configuration interface.
Manual / Setup GuideThe download page links the shared VP5xx/VP6xx guide and quick setup sheet. The guide explicitly includes VP550; older screenshots can say VP600 or show Windows 7. Use the current VP550 package and the host’s actual menus.

Checked 18 October 2026. These labels do not verify a signed package, minimum CPU, installed file version or physical printing. The manual says Edition 4, May 2021; its filename says 20210901, while the web listing gives a different release date. This guide identifies the actual file and edition rather than treating those dates as identical.

USB, Ethernet and GPIO

USB 2.0, 10/100Base-T Ethernet and GPIO are identified in the model brochure and the manual’s rear-panel diagram (p.8). GPIO is a control connection; it is not a substitute for the computer or network print path. The quick setup sheet says to connect USB when the installer prompts. For Ethernet, its initial setup uses DHCP. Check the actual printer address and host connection with your network administrator; do not copy an address from an illustration. These sources do not establish fitted Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

VP550 printing error checks

Media Layout, paper size and print mode

Match the driver’s Media Layout (gap, black mark or continuous), label size and orientation to the loaded stock before adjusting sensors (manual pp.18–19,66–67). Application changes can affect just the current job; driver Printing preferences hold defaults. Shared screenshots identify VP600 and are examples, not a reason to choose that queue for VP550. Print and Present waits for the presented label to be removed, while Roll to Roll serves a rewinder. A pause can therefore be expected behavior. Sensor sensitivity uses TRANSMISSIVE for gaps and REFLECTIVE for black marks; p.70 requires supervisor Level 1 or above. Have the authorized operator review the stock and current setting; no fixed sensitivity or password is prescribed here.

Run the local PQ Plot

For the local print-quality check, the quick setup sheet specifies labels at least 4 × 4 inches (about 102 × 102 mm) and the matching media type on the EWS Diagnostics page. From Printer Online, use Config → MAINTENANCE → PRINT TEST PAGE → PQ PLOT. Compare line continuity, sharp text and separated color bars. A good local plot with a failing PC job is a common clue to investigate the host settings; it does not prove that every driver or connection is correct. This is a quality plot, not a scan or factory reset.

Five panel conditions

User Guide p.9: read the LCD and the two LEDs together; do not assign an invented blink number.

Panel conditionMeaning and check
LCD: Printer OnlineReady to print; still check the selected host queue and loaded media.
Data LED blinkingThe printer is receiving host data.
Data LED steadyJobs remain in printer memory; this alone does not identify a driver fault.
Status LED blinkingHead servicing or an attention condition; read the accompanying LCD message.
Status LED steadyAn error is present. Read its message before choosing a recovery action.

Ten LCD message groups

LCD messageCause and response
Clamshell Open / cover messagesClose the indicated cover normally. A persistent indication with the cover closed can require sensor service (pp.60–62).
End of media / No MediaCheck for an exhausted roll or stock not seated in the input guide; load suitable labels (pp.60,62).
Jammed CutterThe manual distinguishes debris from a worn cutter. Stop and use the exact maintenance procedure or supplier service; do not reach into a powered cutter (p.60).
Jammed MediaCheck the feed path, stock thickness and sensor condition. The guide sets a 0.3 mm maximum (p.60).
Low Ink / Out of InkIdentify the indicated color and the actual cartridge state rather than changing host drivers (pp.60,62).
Mech Error [01]Check label/image dimensions and the affected job’s data; cancel/retry that job as appropriate. Persistent errors need support (p.60).
Mech Error [code] > 01Record the displayed code and contact support. The guide limits repeated restarts for the same mechanical error to three; it does not prescribe three restarts (p.61).
Missing Ink TankReview correct cartridge seating and recognition. Persistent detection, contact or latch faults need support (p.61).
Missing PrintheadCheck the head installation/detection with the supplier. Do not force the latch or start unrelated firmware/reset procedures (p.61).
Wrong MediaCompare stock with Media Layout, label size and gap/black-mark detection (pp.62,67); use the media checks below.

Turn off without interrupting servicing

For a normal shutdown, press the front-panel Power button and confirm with Select. Wait until the LCD has gone dark before switching off at the rear (manual p.24), so the printer can service its head and save data. Repeated hard power cycling is not a general cure for media or mechanical errors.

Official sources and verified scope

Verified 18 October 2026 with the exact VP550 product/download section, 2026 VP550 brochure, 84-page shared User Guide and two-page quick setup sheet. User Guide p.2 explicitly includes VP550, and its printed pages match PDF positions. Only this exact model is newly registered. The rows paraphrase selected diagnostic branches, not the entire manual. Current firmware/app menus, package CPU/signature, OS runtime, consumable transitions and physical printing remain untested. No installer, firmware, printer, EWS, security level or network setting was changed.
