Official WPL305 driver and documentation
Use the WPL305 resource page to separate the driver, DiagTool and manual. The live driver article updated 19 October 2026 links WaspPrintDriver2026.exe; cached search text still names the older 2024.2 file.
Confirm WPL305, 203 dpi and fitted options
The official 633808402006 product is the 203 dpi direct-thermal/thermal-transfer WPL305. The manufacturer maps WPL305e(WPL305) to this manual and includes WPL305E under WPL-305 in the driver list. Confirm the fitted options on the actual printer.
Current driver and diagnostic-tool roles
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| Windows file | WaspPrintDriver2026.exe — the currently linked filename, not a verified internal driver version. Contents, CPU payload, signature and installation were not tested. |
| DiagTool 1.63 | DiagTool_v1.63.zip — a settings/calibration utility, separate from the Windows print driver. Get reads values; Calibrate/Set change them. |
| USB setup | The current article connects PC USB after the printer reaches green, waits for USB Printing Support, then uses DriverWizard. Check the actual package and host. |
| Legacy server | The parallel-port network accessory is separate. Wasp says it is no longer sold; its installer is not the ordinary print driver. |
| OS / CPU | The article lists Windows 11/10/8/7 and older Windows/Server families with 32/64-bit wording. This does not establish Windows 11 ARM, every combination or Mac/Linux installation. |
PC USB, serial, parallel and external server
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| USB | Use the PC data connection; the 2004 guide describes USB1.1. Check the actual port. |
| RS-232 | Match actual host/printer serial settings; do not copy the sample report. |
| Centronics | The parallel connection is distinct from Ethernet. Compare the fitted connector and cable. |
| Network | Official external-server scope — the WPL305 accessory plugs into its parallel port. Do not infer built-in LAN/Wi-Fi from that separate workflow. |

Ribbon,stock path and cover latches
Centre the stock; feed print-side-up under the Teflon bar and guide, then over the platen. The yellow guides should touch the liner without binding. Release the cover support as illustrated, close gently with both hands and check both latches. The guide excludes ribbon for direct-thermal stock; for transfer stock, compare rear supply/front take-up and the ink face.

FEED resume and startup functions differ
Blinking green means pause; the guide uses FEED to resume after resolving the cause. Holding FEED during power-up selects different ribbon, media or initialization utilities; it is a different action from normal resume.

Label calibration, configuration and dump entry
- Check stock, ribbon and saved settings first. This is the 26 July 2004 guide procedure; if the actual sequence differs, use model support.
- Switch off, then hold FEED while switching on.
- After initial orange and five red flashes, release during the orange-flash stage, after its first and before its fifth flash. Do not keep holding into the later green initialization stage.
- It measures label length, prints configuration and enters dump mode. After completion, switch off/on to return to normal printing.
Ribbon sensing uses the earlier red-flash stage. Initialization affects DRAM and saved settings; it is not a substitute for a simple test. Sample firmware, mileage, serial and stock values are not current readings from your unit.

WPL305 label-printing checks
Five LED conditions in context
The four states on printed 12–13 and orange detection on 15 have separate contexts. Solution Number 1–4 indexes explanations; it is not a set of numeric printer error codes.
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| Off | Check power, the adapter LED and both power connections. |
| Green on | Powered and ready. |
| Green blink | Paused; compare FEED resume after resolving the cause. |
| Red blink | Stopped: compare stock, ribbon and settings. Colour alone does not prove a driver fault. |
| Orange | Used during stock/ribbon detection. A startup calibration sequence is distinct from a normal fault. |

Eight cause checks
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| PC-only failure | Common host check: select WPL-305/203dpi and the intended port/queue. Check → |
| Text / hex after test | Check for post-calibration dump mode. Check → |
| Continuous feed | Compare gap/mark sensing and guide position/binding. Check → |
| Blank labels | Compare stock/ribbon orientation, thermal mode and supply. Check → |
| Cover / missing areas | Check both latches; do not force the cover. Check → |
| USB missing | Compare the current official PC connection/package order. Check → |
| Pause / red light | Match FEED action to the actual state and cause. Check → |
| Faint / repeating marks | Compare distinct head/platen care and compatible media. Check → |
Exit the ASCII/hex dump mode
The two-column ASCII/hex output after configuration is the documented dump mode, used to inspect received data. Its appearance alone is not a reason to reinstall the driver. After work completes, switch off/on to exit. Initialization resets saved settings and must not be confused with this exit.

Head and platen need different care
The guide cools the head for one minute before a cleaning pen. Platen care uses 70% alcohol and a swab/lint-free cloth while rotating it; the exterior uses a water-dampened cloth. Do not apply one treatment to every part. Persistent feed, cover or quality faults need model support.

Official sources and verification scope
Checked 21 October 2026 against current official product/support, driver, manual-index and external-server sources and the 26 July 2004 WPL305 guide. Sixteen full pages of the 18-page PDF were visually reviewed. Driver/DiagTool links were checked by headers only; no installer, device, reset or security-setting operation was performed.
