XP-DT108B official downloads
Open the official Drivers page and use the label/barcode category, then the entry for your computer OS. Confirm XP-DT108B in the selected package or model selector. Receipt-printer software and a similarly numbered label model are not substitutes.
Read XP-DT108B on the printer label before choosing software. This is a direct-thermal shipping-label printer. The manufacturer product page lists 203 dpi and up to 108 mm print width. This guide uses the exact XP-DT108B manual; XP-420B and XP-470B are separate models. Product specifications
Choose software for the host OS
| Host OS | Official selection and limits |
|---|---|
| Windows | Find Label printer Windows or Barcode product driver. Verify the exact model and the supported Windows version/CPU before running an installer. |
| macOS | The page has a separate Label printer macOS entry. Package version, Intel/Apple silicon and current macOS requirements have not been verified here. |
| Linux | Use the separate Label printer Linux listing. Confirm distribution, CPU, print system and model definition; a generic Linux label is not runtime proof. |
| Mobile / Chrome OS | The product advertises Android/Chrome OS drivers and an iOS SDK. An SDK is for application integration; it does not establish an iOS print driver, AirPrint or universal browser printing. |
Checked 18 October 2026. These are manufacturer listing routes, not a tested compatibility matrix. No driver version, ARM support or current OS build is promised. The Diagnostic Tool mentioned below performs printer checks/settings; firmware and label-design software have different roles from a PC print driver.
Check the fitted connection
USB is the documented wired starting point. The current product also lists a USB+LAN variant, with Bluetooth/Wi-Fi as factory options. Inspect the actual ports and purchased configuration before choosing a connection. The older manual rear drawing shows USB and an SD slot but explicitly says interfaces vary; that drawing does not prove every unit has an SD slot or wireless module. A general diagnostic-tool COM/LPT menu is not evidence that these sockets are fitted.
XP-DT108B printing error solutions
Normal FEED and pause
With power already on and a steady blue light, one brief FEED press advances a label. During printing, a brief press pauses the job (blue flashes); press again to resume. This normal button action is different from holding FEED while switching power on (manual printed p.10 / PDF p.12).
Paper sensors and calibration
When label stock changes or the printer reports paper out despite loaded media, first check the path and the label gap/mark. In the manual’s Diagnostic Tool, choose the actual interface, open Calibrate Sensor, choose the media type (Gap, Black Mark or Continuous) and run Calibrate with the head closed. The USB interface is the tool’s default. The fixed gap sensor must align with the media gap; software calibration cannot move that sensor (printed pp.18–19 / PDF pp.20–21).
Power-on modes: calibration, test and reset
For the manual’s power-on button sequence, release FEED during the red five-flash stage for sensor calibration. Releasing during the following blue-and-purple five-flash stage instead performs calibration/self-test and enters dump mode. The later blue five-flash stage restores factory settings and clears DRAM downloads; it is not ordinary calibration. Use the exact table on printed p.11 (PDF p.13) and retain existing settings before any deliberate initialization.
If a test leaves hex output
A self-test followed by ASCII/hex columns indicates dump mode, not necessarily a broken driver. Finish or cancel host jobs first, then power the printer off and on normally to leave dump mode (printed pp.14–15 / PDF pp.16–17). The manual calls for 4-inch-wide media for dump output. Its FEED exit note and the explicit power-cycle instruction are separate; this guide uses the documented power cycle.
Five LED conditions
Normal-operation meanings, not the power-on release sequence (printed p.10 / PDF p.12).
| LED state | Meaning and check |
|---|---|
| Blue, steady | Ready. A brief FEED press advances one label. |
| Blue, flashing | Receiving data or paused. Check the job state before pressing FEED to resume. |
| Purple | Clearing data. Do not interpret this alone as a unique fault code. |
| Red, steady | Upper cover open: close and latch the cover/head assembly. |
| Red, flashing | Shared print-error indication: examine paper supply/path, a jam and memory status. It does not identify one unique cause. |
Eight print-error checks
If the table extends beyond the screen, scroll it sideways.
| Symptom | Cause and check | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Only PC jobs fail | Common check: compare the selected queue, actual cable/address, OS and exact model definition. A successful device feed/test narrows the scope but does not prove every driver setting is correct. | XP-DT108B driver downloads |
| Paper out with labels loaded | Manual p.20: check loading and remaining stock, then calibrate the correct sensor/media type. | Media calibration |
| Paper jam indication | Manual p.20: check for trapped labels, the configured label size and sensor calibration. A jam message can also follow a sensor/size mismatch. | Check path and calibration |
| Skipped labels or shifting position | Manual pp.21–22: compare real label/gap size, sensor cleanliness and the page/vertical-offset setting. Change one setting and test a small job. | Sensor and media checks |
| Left or right content missing | Manual p.22: match the configured label width to the stock. The printable width and the full media width are different measurements. | Check the model driver and page size |
| Faint output or repeated lines | Manual pp.21–23: check loaded media, density/speed and head/roller cleanliness. Switch off and let the head cool for at least one minute before cleaning; avoid touching it directly. Persistent defects need service. | Exact manual and cleaning scope |
| FLASH / DRAM full | Manual p.20: identify unused downloaded files with the operator before removing anything. Do not treat a factory reset as the default cure for a full store. | Keep initialization separate |
| Unexpected ASCII / hex output | Manual pp.14–15,22: the printer may be in dump mode after self-test. Clear host jobs and return to normal power-on. | Leave dump mode |

- 4 inch label series — official manual bundle
On User Manual choose “4 inch label series”, download the manufacturer RAR bundle and open XP-DT108B_serise_user_manual_E-1-2017-04-08.pdf. The same archive also contains other models; select the exact XP-DT108B document.
Verified 18 October 2026 against the official product/download pages and the 27-page XP-DT108B manual inside “4 inch label series”. Printed page numbers are two less than PDF positions. The archive filename contains a 2017 manual revision; current software and fitted hardware still need checking. Some manual defaults mention 300 dpi and pressure/SD features; these do not establish a 300 dpi XP-DT108B variant or a user-service adjustment on your unit. No numerical blink count is assigned as a fault code. No installer, firmware, physical device or security setting was changed or tested.
