2026-11-07Zebra ZD411D

Install the Zebra ZD411D Windows driver, run SmartCal and print a configuration report. Check fitted connections, media-out alerts and cover warnings.

Official Windows driver

On Zebra’s support page, select Windows Printer Driver v10. The checked listing names Windows 10 and 11 and Server 2019, 2022 and 2025, for x86, x64 and Arm processors. Check the current list against your operating system before installing.

  1. Install the driver before connecting the USB cable.
  2. Load direct thermal media and print a configuration report using the buttons.
  3. Switch the printer off, connect USB and switch it back on. Match the queue to the report’s model and resolution, then print a Windows test page.

Model and connection options

Check for ZD411D on the printer label and use direct thermal stock. Scratch the printable surface briskly with a fingernail to check the stock. A dark mark indicates direct thermal media.

Use USB 2.0 for a computer connection. Ethernet, RS-232, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth depend on the ordered configuration or installed module. USB Host connects external devices. Compare the actual rear panel with the communication options. Bluetooth LE supports Zebra mobile setup and calibration tools. Verify the connection that your application will use to print.

Run SmartCal

  1. Load the labels, position the movable sensor for the gaps or black marks in use, and close the cover.
  2. Turn the printer on. When STATUS is steady green, hold PAUSE + CANCEL together for two seconds, then release.
  3. The printer advances several labels while adjusting sensing levels. Calibration finishes when feeding stops and STATUS returns to steady green.

See the ZD411D SmartCal button diagram.

Print a configuration report

Load media, close the cover and turn the printer on. When STATUS is steady green, hold FEED + CANCEL for two seconds, then release. Read the model, resolution and settings on the Configuration Report. Zebra’s report instructions

If the report prints but computer jobs fail, check the connection in use, then the ZD411D driver and print queue.

Media and cover warnings

  • Steady red STATUS and SUPPLIES indicate a media-out condition. Load new direct thermal stock if the roll has run out. A missing label in the middle of a roll can also trigger detection.
  • Media Out with stock still loaded calls for checks of the media type, movable sensor position and dirt around the sensor. Then run SmartCal.
  • A cover-open warning calls for closing the cover and pressing its front corners until both latches engage. Arrange service if the warning persists.
  • A steady amber PAUSE indicator means printing is paused. Press PAUSE to resume.
