Brother MFC-L2710DW drivers, test print and WLAN errors

Print a page from the machine before changing computer software. A working Test Print, a network report and the actual LCD message help separate connection faults from toner, drum and paper problems.

Match the label and the connection

MFC-L2710DW is a monochrome laser print/scan/copy/fax model with a two-line LCD. Its exact mapped guide specifies Hi-Speed USB 2.0, 10/100 Ethernet and Wi-Fi b/g/n. The WLAN-code page explicitly requires 2.4GHz, not a 5GHz-only SSID. USB cable length is limited to 2 m; Ethernet uses a straight-through Category 5 or better cable. Wi-Fi Direct is a separate connection method.

The US support mapping opens a shared Online User’s Guide, version H, explicitly naming MFC-L2710DW. Its PCL6/BR-Script3, NFC, touchscreen and automatic two-sided ADF entries apply to other listed models; do not borrow them for this machine. Historical OS and regional paper tables are not current compatibility promises.

Use the physical Menu branch for Test Print

  1. Clear the actual device error and load suitable plain paper. Press Menu, select Printer with the arrow keys and press OK.
  2. Select Print Options → OK → Test Print → OK, then press Start.
  3. Inspect the printed page, then press Stop/Exit. A clean machine page shifts attention to the PC queue, interface and application. A bad page or no page requires the LCD, paper and supplies checks below.

This is the MFC-L2710DW button-panel branch. The shared guide’s Settings → All Settings touchscreen branch belongs to different models. A good test page does not prove the network or scanner connection works.

Twelve useful LCD conditions

Read the exact wording and location on your machine. These rows summarize the applicable button-panel table; XX remains the actual displayed suffix, not an invented service code.

Print the real network and WLAN reports

For this button-panel model: Menu → Print Reports → OK → Network Config → OK → Start. Compare the real address, subnet and node name with the intended queue. If the address is 0.0.0.0, wait one minute and print again; do not copy a sample fixed address.

For wireless failure choose Menu → Print Reports → OK → WLAN Report → OK → Start, then apply the code actually printed. If the report does not print, inspect device errors; with no visible error, wait one minute and retry. The selected US guide lists these seven codes and no TS-03 row.

Paper source, two-sided settings and safe jam removal

Manual Feed often means the chosen source is empty rather than a missing driver. Match tray/slot, paper size and media type in the machine, application and driver. Use only one sheet at a time in the manual slot. For 2-sided Disabled, check the rear cover and seated two-sided tray. For Size Error DX or Size Mismatch, verify the actual regional manual and loaded paper: the selected US paper/error tables have differing size lists, so this article does not promise A4 duplex on every regional unit.

For Jam Inside, the exact procedure leaves power on for 10 minutes so the fan cools very hot parts before the front cover and toner/drum assembly are opened. Wait for cooling, gently remove the trapped sheet and refit the assembly. Follow the location-specific official procedure for rear/two-sided jams. Do not touch hot surfaces, force parts or treat an ADF document jam as a print-path jam.

Corona cleaning and the home mark

For Drum ! or relevant quality faults, remove the assembly as described in the official procedure, gently move the green corona tab back and forth several times, then align its arrow with the drum’s home arrow before refitting. A displaced tab can itself cause a vertical stripe. This cleaning does not replace worn toner or drum.

The exact cleaning chapter calls for a dry lint-free cloth. It prohibits sprays, flammable cleaners and alcohol/ammonia solvents; isopropyl alcohol can crack the control panel. Avoid the illustrated toner/drum contact surfaces. Do not apply inkjet head-cleaning or unrelated printer solvent instructions.

Separate toner replacement from drum replacement

Toner Low permits printing; Replace Toner/Toner Ended stop it. Toner and drum are separate parts. Follow the regional supplies guide and reseat correctly. After a toner change, leave power on and the front cover closed until Ready returns.

A new drum requires its counter reset after installation. The manufacturer explicitly says not to reset it without replacing the drum. A counter reset does not clean the corona, repair wear or replenish toner. Use the exact button-panel replacement instructions rather than a touchscreen reset recipe.

Reconnect the intended route and send one job

As common PC checks, confirm the selected MFC-L2710DW queue, actual USB or network route, pause/offline state and failed jobs. A successful device test with PC-only failure justifies checking software; do not repeatedly submit the same job. AirPrint must use the real reachable machine; the Mac listing’s print route does not guarantee every scan/PC-fax function.

Keep network keys and full reports private. Do not disable security, factory-reset a shared router or copy example IP addresses. Have the administrator compare filtering, isolation and supported authentication. For Windows installation prerequisites, consult the current official package notes and linked FAQ. Do not change security settings based only on a download-list label.

Memory, faxes and persistent faults

For Out of Memory during printing, the guide suggests reducing resolution. Do not delete stored faxes or reset memory as an automatic remedy. Print Unable XX, Scan Unable XX and Self-Diagnostic are device faults; transfer received fax data before a power-off procedure, record the exact suffix and use official support if the fault persists. Firmware updates and factory/network resets are separate actions, not routine driver fixes.

Official evidence and verification

Checked 2026-10-13: exact US model/OS selectors, mapped version H guide, button-panel branches and corona diagram reviewed. Current Windows and Mac listings are separate from historical manual OS information. No driver/firmware binary downloaded or run; no physical, ARM, Apple Silicon or current Linux/app-store guarantee.
