SQUIX official family driver route
Open Software/Drivers, expand Drivers and match SQUIX 4/300, your OS and processor.
Open official SQUIX downloadsIdentify the base 300dpi model and fitted interfaces
The official catalog, page 30, identifies SQUIX 4/300, item 5977001. The left-aligned 300dpi model has a maximum print width of 105.7 mm and supports direct thermal media or thermal transfer with ribbon. SQUIX 4.3/300, 4/600, 4/300P, M, MP and MT are different configurations. Check the physical label and installed accessories; a slash in the resolution is part of the model name.
Catalog pages 13–14 list USB 2.0 Hi-Speed device connection to a computer, Ethernet 10/100 and RS-232. The USB host sockets for accessories/storage are a different function. Wi-Fi requires an optional stick; a family wireless feature does not establish a fitted radio. The base model uses a tear-off plate. Peel-off/internal rewinding belong to P versions; centered media, textile separation, RFID, cutters and applicators depend on the exact configuration or accessories.
Choose the current family package and exact model
The SQUIX product page maps the family to the Drivers section. Expand Drivers, choose the package for your OS and processor, then select the actual SQUIX 4/300 in the installer or queue setup. A shared download page is not a license to choose 4.3/300, a P/M variant or another resolution. The following listing was checked on 2026-10-12; it records published package metadata, not a hardware installation test.
| System | Published package | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Windows 10/11; Server 2016/2019/2022/2025, 64-bit | NEW 1.4.2.0 · 22.64 MB · 2026-04-01 | Requires the latest Visual C++ Redistributable according to cab. Use the official prerequisite instructions. |
| Windows 11 ARM64 | Separate NEW ARM64 · 19.27 MB · 2026-04-01 | Latest Visual C++ Redistributable required; this row does not display a numeric driver version. Do not reuse the x64 version number. |
| Older Windows package | ARCHIV 5.3.03 · 9.37 MB · 2025-10-24 | Separate 32/64-bit archive. Its Windows 11 note says not certified; it is not the ARM64 package. |
| macOS 10.15–26 | MAC OS Driver 1.46 · 2.97 MB · 2026-02-27 | Separate from the older OS X 10.6–10.14 package. The row does not establish every processor architecture. |
| Linux CUPS | 1.46 · 2024-10-23 · minimum CUPS 1.2 | Separate x86 32/64-bit and Armv7/Armv8(aarch64) downloads. Choose the system architecture; listed RPi examples do not certify every board/distribution. |
Label-design software such as cablabel S3 and firmware are separate products/components. Follow the selected package instructions and retain the existing working configuration before replacing a queue. No installer or firmware was downloaded or run for this guide.
When SQUIX 4/300 does not print
Print a report from the device
Configuration manual page 31 describes Menu → Test → Status print. Load printable media covering the print width; thermal-transfer testing also needs ribbon covering that width. The report uses current heat/speed settings and ignores label gaps, so continuous stock is particularly suitable. It can be stopped with the red stop/hand control. Do not use a guessed power-on button combination.
A good report with a failed PC job narrows the investigation to the connection, queue, selected model/resolution, port or application. It does not prove that the driver alone is broken. The illustrated MP-model report and old firmware values in the manual are examples, not the current firmware for this base model.
Read identity and addresses without resetting settings
Menu → Info shows device/model/firmware information and Ethernet addresses; Wi-Fi information depends on fitted hardware. Compare the actual address with the PC queue and the chosen wired or fitted wireless connection. RS-232 communication parameters must match the sending application. These are common connection checks; do not change access controls or reset networking just to read a report.
Selected documented display messages
Instructions pages 29–30 list text messages. After clearing the cause, Repeat resumes a job; Cancel ends it. An Ignore control is not a repair. Record the actual message rather than inventing a numbered fault code.
| Display message | Meaning and first check | Help |
|---|---|---|
| Out of paper | Roll empty or feed path failing: load suitable stock and check the path. | Check |
| No label found | Missing labels, wrong job format or continuous stock interpreted as labels can differ. Check the stock and format; cancel a wrongly formatted job before correcting it. | Check |
| Out of ribbon / Remove ribbon | Check ribbon supply and whether thermal-transfer or direct-thermal mode matches the actual material. Melted ribbon also requires a heat/cleaning check. | Check |
| Printhead open | The head is not locked; close and lock it correctly. | Check |
| Printhead too hot | Cooling protection pauses printing and resumes after cooling. Repeated cases need lower heat/speed and a setup review. | Check |
| Ribbon ink side | Ribbon loading/unwind direction and the configured ink side disagree; correct loading/settings and clean the head. | Check |
| Memory overflow | An oversized job or excessive graphics/fonts can exhaust memory. Cancel and simplify the job; check the required command language with the application supplier. | Check |
| Voltage error | A hardware supply fault: restart once, record the displayed detail and obtain service if it persists. | Check |
Symptoms and the next check
| Symptom | Next check | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Printer cannot produce its status report | Check stock, ribbon/mode, head lock and the exact display message first. | Device report |
| PC cannot discover the printer | Use the USB device port, actual Ethernet address or fitted Wi-Fi; compare RS-232 settings when applicable. | Connection check |
| Device report works; PC queue fails | Common PC checks: selected queue/port, pause/offline state and correct 300dpi model. A missing/wrong driver belongs to this exact model. | SQUIX 4/300 drivers |
| Blank labels or ribbon alert | Direct-thermal stock needs the corresponding mode; thermal transfer needs compatible correctly loaded ribbon. | Thermal mode |
| Skipped labels or wrong start position | Check real dimensions, gap/mark detection and the label sensor position; do not apply peel-off settings to the base model. | Media sensing |
| Faint print or missing vertical lines | Check ribbon ink side and media, then clean the cool head with the specified agent. | Cleaning |
| Repeated cooling stops | Wait for cooling, then review application heat/speed and material rather than immediately reinstalling the PC driver. | Heat and head lock |
| Job memory or recurring voltage fault | Reduce an oversized job; persistent hardware faults need the displayed details and qualified service. | Job or service |
Label sensing and feed synchronization
Material loading and sensor positioning, page 16, positions the label sensor for the actual gap or detection mark. Compare stock width/height and detection with the job settings. Continuous material is a different sensing choice. The Feed synchronization step on page 25 applies to peel-off/cutting operation after loading; remove the blank output. It is not a universal instruction for every base-model job, and no new synchronization is required if the head was not opened between jobs.
Match media, ribbon and printing method
Direct thermal uses suitable heat-sensitive stock without a transfer ribbon. Thermal transfer needs the right ribbon and loading orientation. Compare both the application and device mode. For a melted ribbon, cancel the job, lower heat, clean the head, reload and restart only after correcting the cause. Removing ribbon alone is not a fix for a job that should use thermal transfer.
Lock the head and allow cooling
Lock the printhead after loading. During a temperature pause, let the device cool and resume automatically; repeated heat warnings require the heat/speed and material settings to be reviewed. A head-open or overheating message should not be treated as proof of a Windows driver fault.
Use different agents for roller and head
Cleaning, page 27, starts with power disconnected and a cooled head. Remove media/ribbon and avoid fingers, metal tools and abrasives on the printing surface. The agent table specifies W1 (9200051) for the roller and isopropanol above 99.9% for head/sensor. Follow the exact component procedure; the roller is not covered by a blanket alcohol recipe. Allow 2–3 minutes to dry after cleaning. The head interval is each media roll for direct thermal or each ribbon roll for thermal transfer.
Compare the application's label job
Check dimensions, resolution, orientation and the printer language supported by the chosen application. An oversized graphic/font job may need simplification rather than a full device reset. These application comparisons are common diagnostic checks, not a promise that every labeling program is compatible.
When to contact support
Keep the exact model/item, message and relevant report. If voltage or other hardware faults persist after a normal restart, stop and ask cab or a qualified service provider. Share reports privately and review network details before posting them publicly. A driver reinstall does not repair the power supply, head mechanism or media sensor.
