Separate Windows, CUPS and POS components
| Item | Check / action |
|---|---|
| Windows | The selected CT-S651II listing shows Driver 3.6.1.0 with Windows 10/11 and Server 2016/2019. The separate Install Guide row’s older OS labels are not an expanded current-package matrix. |
| CUPS | macOS and Linux CUPS drivers are separately listed as 1.2.8, without exact OS/CPU/distribution requirements in those rows. Check package documentation; the product’s Linux ARM SDK listing does not establish CUPS ARM support. |
| OPOS / JavaPOS | These components serve POS application integration. Match the application’s interface rather than treating them as interchangeable with the ordinary Windows print driver or settings utilities. |
Listing checked 26 October 2026. Installer contents, CPU, signatures and runtime were not tested; package version is not printer firmware.
Identify the complete CT-S651II configuration
CT-S651 Type II and CT-S651II name this manual’s model. Do not transfer original CT-S651 or CT-S601II settings. It is a direct-thermal receipt printer.
| Item | Check / action |
|---|---|
| Power type | The classification uses S for a built-in supply, A for an external adapter and DC for no power source. Confirm the complete supplied model and regional power arrangement. |
| Interface | The interface is selected by board: USB, RS-232C, parallel, LAN, wireless LAN or Bluetooth options. Examples include UB=USB, RS=serial, ET=standard Ethernet and BT=Bluetooth; not every combination is available. |
| Paper / sensor | The matrix distinguishes 3-inch (80/83 mm) and 2-inch (58/60 mm) paper, plus presence of the PNE near-end sensor. Check fitted width, partition and sensor options rather than inferring defaults from the short name. |

Fitted interface and USB connection
The product lists selectable USB, serial, parallel, LAN, wireless and Bluetooth interfaces. Check the rear board and full model first. The USB-board sequence is power off, orient/connect the printer plug, then connect the host port. Follow the selected software package for installation timing.
Hold the connector when unplugging and do not insert USB into the cash-drawer connector. The manual also flags USB serial-number changes for multiple printers on one PC; use the official procedure for that deployment.

FEED for about one second: self test versus PC jobs
- With suitable paper correctly loaded, switch off. Hold FEED while switching power on.
- Hold FEED for about one second, then release it to start self test. Output includes the model, version, DIP/memory settings and built-in fonts.
- USB models have no DIP switches, so all appear OFF on the printout; this is not a fault or reset instruction. If self test works but host jobs fail, compare the exact driver, queue and fitted connection as common PC checks.
During ordinary powered operation, FEED advances paper. Keep memory-setting modes and Bluetooth reconnection multi-press sequences separate from this self test.

Load paper: three groups from the five documented steps
- Switch on and press the cover-open button upward. Open only while not printing; avoid the head and cutters.
- Load the roll with the printable side upward as illustrated, and pull a few centimetres straight out. Check the specified stock, width and partition.
- Press the cover center until it clicks shut. Factory settings feed and cut automatically; current settings may differ. If skewed, reopen, straighten and leave a few centimetres out before closing.

Five selected LED checks and their context
POWER is green, PAPER orange and ERROR red. Several conditions flash ERROR, so color alone does not identify a fault. These five common checks do not replace the complete pattern chart. Buzzer behavior depends on MSW5-1/MSW10-6 settings.
| Item | Check / action |
|---|---|
| Paper near-end | PAPER orange is on: prepare a new roll. Check that the supplied configuration has the near-end sensor. |
| Paper-end | PAPER and ERROR are both on: load a new roll. Distinguish this from the near-end warning. |
| Cover open | ERROR is on for a cover opened in standby, and flashes when opened during printing/feed. Leave a few centimetres straight out before closing; a resume command may be needed depending on settings. |
| Cutter locked | ERROR flashes: resolve the cause, close the paper cover, then press FEED. Do not force a cover that will not open. |
| Print head hot | ERROR flashes while printing waits for cooling, then resumes automatically. Flashing alone does not identify a cutter fault. |
Head cooling resumes automatically
Dense characters, dark images and extended printing in heat can raise head temperature. This condition resumes after cooling. If it persists, compare the actual flash pattern and operating conditions.

Cutter locks and an obstructed paper exit
An obstructed exit can wrap paper around the platen. The documented recovery is to remove the cause, close the paper cover and press FEED. If the cover remains locked or the cutter does not recover, use section 4.3 or contact support. Do not force the cover or disassemble the blade mechanism.

Eight cause checks with the exact-model driver link
| Item | Check / action |
|---|---|
| Host jobs only | Compare self test, then check actual OS, model driver and queue. Check section |
| USB not found | Check the fitted board, cable and PC port; do not use the drawer connector. Check section |
| Network not found | Establish that a LAN/wireless board is fitted before checking its network. Do not assume an IP address on a USB unit. Check section |
| Blank / skewed | Check printable-side orientation, approved roll and center cover latch. Check section |
| Paper warning | Separate PAPER-only near-end from combined PAPER/ERROR end. Check section |
| Thermal pause | Compare dense images, hot surroundings and extended output with automatic cooling recovery. Check section |
| Cutter / exit jam | Keep the exit clear and use the model-specific lock procedure. Check section |
| Persistent fault | Record the flash pattern, full model and job conditions for service. Do not invent numeric codes or apply a blanket reset. Check section |
