Official driver list: note the 2056N label
Choose Impact Printers → Compuprint 2056 Series in official downloads. Current results are labelled 2056N: read the model/OS distinction below before treating a file as suitable for 2056e.
Identify 2056e and its fitted configuration
2056e is a 24-pin, 80-column dot matrix printer. Current documentation distinguishes PRT2056E from the LAN configuration PRT2056EN. This adds one verified 2056e guide; it does not infer that 2056N is an alias or register it as another new model.

Distinguish 2056e documentation and 2056N download labels
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| Current datasheet OS wording | The 2026 sheet lists Windows 2000/XP/7/8/10/11 (32/64-bit), Server 2003/2008 and Linux. This is not installation proof for every OS/CPU combination. |
| Actual download results | The 2056 Series result says 2056N, Windows 8/10, V1.0.0.0. Its 2056e applicability is unverified; confirm the correct package with the manufacturer. Datasheet Windows 11/Linux wording does not approve that file. |
| Other files and limits | Netfinder V1.2.2010.927 is an interface-management tool, separate from the print driver. Older Windows files are separate. Installer payload, signature, ARM and Mac support were not verified. |
Standard / LAN configurations and cables
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| Standard PRT2056E | Parallel and USB 2.0; match the actual fitted port and queue. |
| LAN configuration PRT2056EN | This configuration adds serial and LAN to parallel/USB. Do not assume every 2056e has Ethernet or serial. |
| Before cable work | The guide requires printer power off before parallel/serial connection; its parallel procedure also switches the PC off. Follow the actual unit’s instructions. |
ASCII self-test with paper at least 210mm wide
A cut-sheet ASCII test checks device printing separately from computer jobs. Use paper at least 210mm wide so printing stays off the exposed platen. Avoid the hot head and keep the printer window closed while printing.
- With power off, set the paper selector to cut sheets and raise the rear paper-support cover.
- Hold TEAR while switching on. PAPER OUT and ONLINE blink while paper is absent.
- Adjust the rear guides to the sheet width and insert one sheet between them for loading.
- Press ONLINE to start printing, with the window closed.
- Pause with ONLINE and confirm printing has stopped.
- Eject the cut sheet with LF/FF or LOAD/EJECT, then switch off.
Separate self-test, settings print and dump mode
TEAR plus power selects ASCII testing; ONLINE plus power prints current settings. Adding LF/FF to TEAR at power-on selects hex dump instead. Keep these combinations separate. Alternating ONLINE/PAPER OUT flashes also occur in adjustment mode, so read them in context.
2056e print problem checks
Five LED checks: distinguish speed colours and faults
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| PAPER OUT off | The panel table identifies the normal state. |
| PAPER OUT blinking | Paper absent or a malfunction; this lamp alone does not establish a PC-driver cause. |
| ONLINE on | Online. If nothing prints, check the host and connection separately. |
| ONLINE blinking | Offline in the basic panel table; also account for testing or adjustment activity. |
| SPEED green / yellow / red | Normal/letter, high and super-high speed respectively; red alone is not a fault code. |
Six cause checks
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| Self-test also fails | Check device paper, ribbon and power; unresolved self-test failure needs service. Check → |
| Online; no PC output | Common: compare queue, actual port and suitable software; do not assume a 2056N file fits 2056e. Check → |
| Print motion but no image | The guide separates ribbon fit/wear, gap appropriate to paper thickness and overheat protection. Check → |
| A whole dot row is missing | The guide treats this as possible head damage: stop printing and seek service, without disassembly. Check → |
| Cut-sheet feeding / skew | Check remaining tractor paper, selector and guides. Switch off before handling jams as the guide directs. Check → |
| Wrong text / page boundaries | Compare host font/driver and document page length; application font choices can override panel settings. Check → |
Official evidence and verification scope
Verified 21 October 2026: exact 2056e product, 2026 sheet, selected MAN10xxx-02 pages (70 pages), and actual download-form results. The 2056N package’s 2056e applicability and differing speed figures remain unresolved; no universal speed is assigned. No installer, physical print, firmware or network change was performed.
