This English quick guide is based on the Korean catalog. Confirm model-specific compatibility and installation details on the manufacturer’s official page.

Model and driver source
This guide is for the 8-inch dye-sublimation thermal-transfer photo printer using paired roll paper and ribbon; usb 2.0 pc connection, not an inkjet mfp or a built-in ethernet/wi-fi printer model DNP DS820A. The download button opens the official DNP support page in this window. The manufacturer’s page is authoritative for the available driver packages and their current compatibility.
Operating-system and download checks
The Korean catalog lists these systems for checking: The actual DS820A Windows 11 ZIP contains DriverInstall.CMD, setup_win11_x64.exe and ReadMe_Install_English.txt identifying DP-DS820 driver 1.0.0.3 for Windows 11 only. Separate official files are 1.0.0.2 for Windows 10 32/64-bit and 1.0.0.1 for Windows 8/7 32/64-bit. The current US Mac package is 5.2.7 build 669; its README explicitly lists DS-820A and intended macOS 11/12/13 support with iSerial enabled. Older manual headings, firmware tools and generic newer OS claims do not prove macOS 14/15/26, Linux or Windows ARM support. Choose the actual purchase region; the official page directs European customers to European support.. Select your exact operating system and version on the official page. If your version is not offered, do not install a package intended for a different system.
Connection and installation
- Confirm DS820A and its regional designation, exact OS/architecture, administrator rights and required queue/ICC/media settings. Use approved DS820-series paper and ribbon as a set; keep the scrap box fitted, door closed and output clear. Do not copy DS620 paper sizes or an A4 option from a different regional package.
- For Windows 11, keep the printer off and USB disconnected while preinstalling the package. The official guide requires removal of the prior DNP driver before 1.0.0.3, especially after upgrading Windows 10. Preserve settings and jobs and follow its scoped package procedure rather than removing all printers.
- Extract the official ZIP, launch its actual DriverInstall.CMD, select the language and complete the installer and publisher/security prompts. The guide uses CD screenshots; the confirmed download contains the same launch file. Connect a shielded USB 2.0 data cable only after the package is installed, following the device safety instructions, then power on.
- Check DP-DS820 under Settings, Bluetooth & devices, Printers & scanners and restart the computer after completed installation as the guide requires. Match paper size, ribbon/media grade, finish and orientation, then print a small photograph.
- For macOS 11/12/13, disconnect USB, open the official file set and run its PKG installer. Reconnect and switch on after installation; wait for automatic registration rather than clicking the plus button to create a duplicate. Verify the correct photo-paper size, not the default US Letter. Full qualified operation requires iSerial enabled; consult DNP for the actual unit rather than applying another model firmware or utility.
- The Mac uninstaller removes every DNP printer and driver for every user. A properly functioning older 5.x driver does not necessarily require removal; follow the README and preserve other printers. WCM/HFP are separate products/workflows, not proof of built-in printer networking. Do not apply SSID/WPS or Ethernet-IP driver installation to the USB-only printer.
Troubleshooting
For Windows Unspecified detection, install the package first. If it remains unresolved, follow the official recovery procedure for only the identified Dai Nippon Printing DP-DS820 device: remove that unspecified instance, disconnect USB, restart, reconnect/power on and confirm the real queue. Do not delete all USB devices. Paper end, Ribbon end, Door open and Scrap box missing require the actual media/door/box correction; replace depleted paper and ribbon as a set. Alternating PAPER/RIBBON lights indicate a media-size mismatch. Match the application and driver to loaded media. On Mac check the default Letter size, duplicate queue and iSerial condition; the README notes spooler test-page limitations, so use a small photo. Head cooling clears automatically; do not reinstall or cut power mid-print. Follow the exact jam procedure and contact service for persistent faults or inaccessible paper; avoid the hot head and cutter.
