Distinguish print drivers, Virtual COM and OPOS
These entries were observed on the global TP805 list on 27 October 2026. Listing versions do not establish payload versions, release dates or current OS runtime results.
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| Windows ESC | v2.7.4.10 The Windows print-driver entry. First determine whether the POS application uses a normal print queue and whether the connection is USB, serial or LAN. |
| Virtual COM | 1.0 A virtual serial-port component, separate from a normal print driver or OPOS package. |
| OPOS ESC | v1.2.3.14 For a POS application using OPOS. Its role differs from a normal document-printing driver. |
| Mac | v1.2.19 The global-list version. The Taiwan TP805 table instead lists v1.2.26; compare regional package requirements separately. |
| Linux ESC | v1.2.22 The Linux entry. Confirm the actual distribution, CPU, printing system and supplier requirements before installation. |

Windows, Mac and Linux labels do not prove Windows 11, ARM, current macOS, Apple Silicon or specific Linux-distribution compatibility. The product page’s older OS list is also not a substitute for current package requirements. Distinguish SDKs, configuration tools and firmware from print drivers.
Identify TP805 and its fitted ports
TP805 is a 203 dpi direct-thermal receipt printer. The product lists USB, RS232 and Ethernet. Do not transplant TP801/TP806 diagrams or options from the shared guide. TP805 uses green POWER and red ERROR/PAPER indicators, separate from the TP801-only multicolour STATUS indicator.

The shared guide and quick-start sheet also show optional wireless and parallel interfaces. The presence of Wi-Fi/Bluetooth manuals in the download list does not mean every TP805 has wireless hardware; check the rear board and ordered configuration.

Separate host and peripheral connections
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| USB | The TP805 rear diagram shows a Type B USB host-computer port. Follow the manual’s power-off instruction for attaching or removing cables and check the installer’s connection prompt. |
| RS232 / LAN | Select the fitted serial or Ethernet connection. The Windows test-page procedure also requires the actual Interface setting. Compare COM or IP settings with site records; do not copy example addresses or DIP values. |
| Cash drawer | Separate this from the host LAN port. The guide restricts it to a 24V cash drawer and prohibits telephone-line connections; connector shape alone is not sufficient. |

FEED paper movement versus a power-on self-test
- Load thermal roll paper correctly and close the top cover.
- With the power supply connected, turn the printer’s power switch off.
- Hold FEED while switching the printer on to print the self-test page.
Official User Manual ZIP · printed pages 21, 22, 29 (PDF 26, 27, 34)
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| FEED while already on | When no alarm is present, it advances paper. This is different from printing a self-test report. |
| Hexadecimal / ASCII columns | This can be HEX Dump diagnostic output. The guide describes an open-cover FEED power-on sequence and a separate mode selection. After printing finishes, switching off and back on exits that mode. The printed bytes are not numeric fault codes. |
If the self-test prints but the PC receipt fails, compare the host connection, application and driver. This is a common diagnostic separation, not a guarantee that every printing condition is correct.

Separate TP805 printing failures by cause
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| PC jobs only | After checking the self-test, actual port and normal-queue/OPOS application path, compare the TP805 official driver list. |
| PAPER stays on | With ERROR off and no alarm, this can be near-end stock. Read all indicators and the beeper to distinguish no-paper and open-cover conditions. |
| Faint or spotted | Check roll direction, recommended thermal stock, head/roller contamination and print density. Do not rely only on increased density; check approved stock and service instructions. |
| Missing columns | The official table distinguishes contamination from a damaged head. If unresolved, contact the supplier; do not invent a cleaner or concentration. |
| Jam or failed cut | Switch off and follow the branch for an openable or locked cover. Do not force the cover or touch the blade. |
| ERROR flashes / alarm | The guide lists overheating, overvoltage and low voltage as well as cutter problems. Let it cool, verify the approved supply against the unit label and seek service if it repeats. |

Read all three indicators and the beeper
The order is POWER / ERROR / PAPER. These six selected condition groups are drawn from the manual; they are not numeric error codes.
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| No lamps or operation | Check the power supply and switch. If both are correct but the condition remains, contact the supplier. |
| On / off / off · silent | The table’s ordinary loaded-paper state. A failed PC job still requires host-path checks. |
| On / off / on · silent | Paper near end. The guide states that printing can continue in this condition. |
| All on · alarm | Cover-open and no-paper conditions share the same three-lamp combination. Check both the cover latch and roll stock, and record the actual beep pattern. |
| On / flashing / off · alarm | The LED/beeper table’s cutter-jam condition. Compare the full operating context with the jam procedure. |
| ERROR flashes · alarm | The troubleshooting table also lists head overheating, overvoltage and low voltage. It does not specify the other two lamps for this row, so do not infer them. |

Load the roll and distinguish paper from cutter jams
- Switch off and use the release button to open the TP805 top cover.
- Match the guide to the actual paper width. Load using the TP805/TP806 checked-direction figure and draw paper out toward the front.
- Keep the paper correctly positioned while closing the top cover.
- Tear off the excess. Keep the guide fitted and do not leave loose paper in the mechanism.

The product page lists 58/76/80mm, while the shared manual’s base table lists 58/80mm. Match the actual unit, guide and approved stock. The head and nearby parts are hot after printing; let them cool before handling.
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| Top cover opens | Switch off and press the cover-release button. Remove the jam, reload the roll and close the cover. |
| Locked by cutter jam | Use the TP805 diagram on the left of the manual. Switch off, open the front cutter cover and turn the knob until the cutter returns to the normal-position mark. Close the front cover, then open the top cover and remove the paper. Do not guess direction or turn count; if the unit differs or resists, stop and seek service. |

Official evidence and verification scope
Checked the official product, model download tables and TP805-named User Manual Rev.3.0 on 27 October 2026. Its revision record is dated 30 September 2018; today’s check does not make that a new publication. PDF page numbers are five higher than printed numbers. The official PDF is delivered in a ZIP, so ZIP links do not include PDF page fragments.
The product table gives 24V 2A output, while the shared manual gives 24V 2.5A; their paper-thickness ranges also differ. Select approved supplies by the actual unit label and supplier specification. Driver payloads, current OS runtime, physical printing, knob operation and configuration changes were not tested.
