Distinguish the Windows driver and Easy-Mark
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| Driver | The current MP100/MP200/MP300/MP500/MP550 driver row links Setup.zip. That row alone does not establish a version, Windows release or CPU support. |
| Easy-Mark | The label editor is separate. Numbers in a public filename are not proof of the installed version or supported OS; check its license and requirements. |
| Other OS / apps | A current MP300 Mac/Linux route was not verified here. Mobile app rows name MP100 or MP100/500/550, so they do not establish MP300 wireless printing. |

The installation guide is TSD00073 Rev000 from 2020. No current installer was downloaded or run; ARM, signature and newer-OS operation were not verified.
Match the MP300 and label stock
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| Model / resolution | The official PXE comparison lists MP300 at 360dpi. Check regional power/kit differences for MP300/E; do not transfer another MP model’s features. |
| Tape width | The 66-page manual lists 6/9/12/18/24/36mm and 42mm die-cut separately. The catalog’s 1.5-inch continuous-media entry does not authorize every 42mm stock. |
| Loading | Switch off before fitting specified stock. If needed, rewind ribbon as illustrated, put the tape end into the outlet and close the cover; avoid touching the sensor. |

Connect USB when the installer requests it
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| Printer / PC | Manual pp.3/8 describe USB for Easy-Mark Plus on a PC. The current PXE chart does not mark MP300 as wireless-capable. |
| Model selection | The 2020 guide shows extraction, Setup/Setup.exe, language/license review and selecting Panduit MP300. Verify current UI and CPU requirements separately. |
| USB | Its model-selection screen says to keep USB disconnected until instructed. Follow the power/USB prompt, then detection, Next and Finish. |

Four checks using a standalone label
- With power off, check the correct cartridge, tape end and cover; then switch on.
- After replacing stock, use FEED/CUT, select Tape feed or Feed and cut, and press Enter. Feeding is not a print-quality test.
- Create a short keyboard label and use the orange PRINT key. Keep fingers out of the outlet and do not pull during printing.
- If standalone output also fails, check stock, cover and LCD first. Host-only failure leads to common USB/editor/queue/driver checks.
This uses an ordinary label for functional comparison; it is not a factory self-test command. See the button diagrams on pp.5/9/10/12 in the manual ZIP.
Read the actual LCD message
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| Charge Li-ion! | Low battery: check correct seating and the dedicated adapter for charging. |
| Change alkaline | Switch off and replace all alkaline cells with new ones; this differs from Li-ion charging. |
| Cover open! | Close the top cover. |
| Insert tape | Check for missing or incorrectly fitted stock. |
| Check tape cartridge | Check for unsupported stock and fit the correct cartridge. |
| Overheated! | Switch off, remove the cartridge and allow cooling. |
| Trash at slot | Check for tape left at the outlet. |
| Remove cut tape | Remove the remaining cut label before starting another print. |
Selected entries from manual p.4. Trash at slot is paired with Remove trash; no numeric errors or flash counts are invented.
Six comparisons when a label will not print
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| PC-only failure | Common check: compare OS, USB, queue and this MP300 driver |
| Stock detection | Check loading, the stock detection label and sensor; avoid touching the sensor. Loading |
| Feed only | FEED/CUT and PRINT have different jobs. Standalone comparison |
| Next-label pause | Compare Drop stop and the label at the outlet. Pause checks |
| Cover / heat / power | Follow the displayed message. LCD messages |
| Missing / faint print | Check correct stock/ribbon and the specified head-care method. Care |
Distinguish care, Drop stop and shutdown
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| Before cleaning | Switch off, remove batteries and disconnect the adapter. Follow p.14: soft cloth for exterior, cotton swab for head. Avoid exterior solvents/alcohol; do not invent head-fluid concentration or pressure. |
| Drop stop | This holds a printed label. The guide specifies length at least 28mm, Auto cut On and Half cut Off. A next-label pause alone is not evidence of driver failure. |
| Shutdown | Wait for Powering off to disappear before removing power. Initialization erases content and is not a routine print-repair step. |
