Open official PP-8803 driver choices
This opens the official Driver & Utility list with AURA PP-8803 selected. Compare the actual POS application, host OS/CPU and True USB or Virtual COM mode. A Windows print driver, virtual-port component, OPOS/Java POS driver and configuration utility serve different roles; downloading one does not replace the others.
AURA PP-8803 is a thermal receipt printer with USB, serial and LAN connections. Confirm PP-8803 on the unit before selecting software. The shared PP-8802/8803 manual explicitly shows an Ethernet port on PP-8803; its PP-8802 diagram has no LAN port. Manual p.4
Select the software role
| Part | Scope |
|---|---|
| Windows print driver | The selected model list shows 32Bit v.3.06q and 64Bit v.1.06m, both dated 27 December 2023. The row names include Win7/8/10/11; these are vendor labels, not proof of every OS/CPU combination. Payload architecture, signature trust, installation and current-host printing were not tested. |
| USB Virtual COM | The same list has v5.20 WHQL, 2 February 2024, labelled Win11/Win10/Win7. Choose a component for the actual USB mode and application. The WHQL label is the provider’s statement, not an independent trust check. |
| POS application integration | The product Resources section lists OPOS 1.3.6.5 (9 December 2025) and Windows Java POS 1.7.2.5 / 1.7.2.5_64 (12 June 2025). Linux Java POS 1.7.2.3h is an older integration item; it is not evidence of a Linux CUPS print package. |
| Settings and logos | Software Switch Utility V2.0.12 and LAN WIFI Printer Manager V2.0.8 are dated 6 January 2025. The list also has an NV-bitmap logo utility. These can configure a device and are not ordinary replacement print drivers. A utility’s Wi-Fi name does not prove wireless hardware is fitted. |
| Other OS and CPU limits | The manual broadly names Android, Linux and Windows and an Android utility. Exact current Mac/CUPS, phone-printing and ARM64 package/runtime support was not verified. Keep the selected package’s actual support conditions separate from a generic OS name. pp.11–12 |
Match the actual port and mode
| Port | Check |
|---|---|
| USB and serial | The PP-8803 drawing labels USB Type B and a DB-9 RS-232 COM port. The product specifies selectable True USB / Virtual COM; compare the actual mode with the host program. Do not assume a fixed USB001 or COM1 port. pp.4–5 |
| Ethernet and drawer | PP-8803 has Ethernet 10/100Base-T. The adjacent cash-drawer CR connector is separate; the drawer port is specified as 24V. Match the labelled LAN socket rather than choosing by connector shape. p.4 / pp.11–12 |
| One host interface at a time | The manual asks for only one type of host-interface cable and a printer reboot after changing that cable so the interface can be detected again. Stop incoming POS work and arrange any change with the operator. This is not a request to reset network settings. p.6 |
Match roll and print width
The product lists 80mm or 58mm rolls; roll width differs from printable width. Its print-width choices are 64mm by default and 72mm, while the manual also lists a 53mm choice. Confirm actual configuration with support. For 58mm stock, the manual calls for a spacing plate/separator and an internal DIP setting handled by the service team. For a 3-inch roll it says to remove the plastic pad. Compare the diagrams and fitted kit; do not copy another model’s DIP positions. pp.4–5 / p.12
Load the thermal roll in the illustrated direction, pull the loose end toward the cutter and gently close the cover at its top centre until it clicks, leaving paper outside. Do not press the cover-release button during printing. A jam or locked cover needs the model-specific instructions or service; do not force the lid or borrow another printer’s cutter-gear procedure. p.5 / pp.6–7
PP-8803 not printing: device checks first
Closed-cover self-test
- Stop incoming jobs, load suitable paper and close the cover. The closed cover is part of the diagnosis sequence.
- With printer power off, hold FEED while powering on. The troubleshooting section says to hold it until printing starts, then use the status printout to compare the actual device settings.
- If Paper-out stays red while the report is waiting, briefly press FEED for less than one second to continue with the built-in character set. This report pause differs from ordinary out-of-paper.
- After the self-test finishes, the manual says the printer returns to standard mode. Record the result and compare a limited authorised host job; do not change factory or LAN settings to obtain the report.
The dedicated self-test section also describes a short beep and releasing FEED after power-on. Follow the actual state and the closed-cover troubleshooting sequence; a brief report pause is not automatically a failed driver. pp.8–9 / p.10
Four LED patterns and their context
| LED | Meaning |
|---|---|
| POWER · solid green | The status table calls this System ON. If all indicators are dark, the troubleshooting section says to check the power cable, printer connection and socket. pp.9–10 |
| ERROR · solid red | The table says Cover open. The troubleshooting section also asks about a jam/foreign material at the cutter and an overheated head. Correct the observed cause; printing can resume after the head cools. Do not touch a hot head. pp.9–10 |
| ERROR · flashing red | The table says Printer busy. For a printer actually stuck in a fault, the later troubleshooting section describes power-off, a 10-second wait and power-on, then service if it recurs. Do not interrupt active POS printing just because a light blinks or repeat a reset loop. pp.9–10 |
| PAPER OUT · solid red | The status table says Out of Paper, and troubleshooting asks whether the roll is installed correctly. During the documented self-test it can instead mean a pending report portion; use the report sequence to distinguish the context. pp.8–10 |
Eight conditional cause checks
If the table extends beyond the screen, scroll it sideways.
| Symptom | Check | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| No indicators | Check the correct power adapter, cable, printer connection and socket; USB data alone is not the documented power supply. | Guide |
| Paper-out red | Compare loaded paper and cover state with any pending self-test report, rather than repeatedly reinstalling. | Guide |
| Error red / jam or heat | Check cover, paper path and cooling context. Keep clear of the head/cutter and refer a locked mechanism to the correct manual or service. | Guide |
| Blinking and job stalled | Separate the Busy status-table entry from a persistent fault. Use the documented recovery/service context after protecting POS jobs. | Guide |
| Connection changed | Match the one connected interface, actual USB mode/serial port or LAN address. The manual calls for re-detection after an operator-arranged cable change. | Guide |
| Receipt cropped or wrong width | Compare app/queue print width, actual roll and the service-configured 58mm kit. An 80mm roll does not mean 80mm printable width. | Guide |
| Self-test works, PC job fails | Common host check: compare the exact-model queue, port, OS/CPU and selected print-driver or POS component. | Guide |
| Hexadecimal Dump message | The manual documents a separate open-cover power-on/FEED branch that prints this message. It is a diagnostic mode, not a numerical hardware fault. | Guide |
Keep report, dump and reset separate
The manual places self-test, hexadecimal dump, software-switch factory reset and PP-8803 LAN reset close together, with different cover/button conditions. This guide uses the closed-cover self-test. It does not prescribe factory/LAN reset or reproduce their button counts or sample network addresses. If “Hexadecimal Dump” appears, record that mode and consult the operator/manual; a normal-mode exit procedure was not verified here. pp.8–10
Record evidence for service
Record the exact model, fitted ports, LED colour/steady-or-flashing state, self-test result and what happened before the fault. Redact customer data and sensitive network details before sharing a report. No numeric fault-code table was verified in this 12-page manual, so none is invented here. Persistent flashing, a locked cover/cutter or repeat overheating needs Posiflex/dealer assessment. p.10
