Official BN2-20A software downloads

Use Software and Manuals on the official BN2-20/20A/30 page. Identify Connect Hub, VersaWorks and BN2 Utility before choosing software for this RIP workflow. Original BN-20/20A files are a different model family.

R6 setup route and operating systems

Based on installation R6-260901 printed pp.4–6 and 11–17. Current platform-specific listing versions are reviewed below; installer contents, signatures and runtime operation were not tested.

CheckCheck and next step
WindowsInstallation R6 printed p.4 (PDF p.5): Windows 11, Intel Core i5 4670 or later, at least 16GB RAM and Full HD. The table lists 256GB free SSD space or 500GB free HDD space.
MacmacOS 26/15/14, Apple Silicon, at least 8GB RAM, 1280×1024 display and a 128GB storage entry. Do not extend that entry to Intel Macs.
CommonInternet, a web browser and an Ethernet port are specified. This does not establish unlisted Windows-on-ARM/Linux support or installer runtime results.
CheckCheck and next step
Connect HubLaunches Designer, VersaWorks and Utility and coordinates data/status transfer.
DesignerCreates designs/print data and media/quality settings for output through VersaWorks.
RIP 7VersaWorks 7 is the software RIP. Current installation R6 uses version 7; the portal also has a separate version 6 listing.
BN2 UtilityControls settings, ink, maintenance and messages. A Utility test pattern and design-job output test different parts of the workflow.
  1. Check the R6 OS/CPU requirements and Internet connection.
  2. Use a Roland DG Connect account; an existing ID avoids creating another account (printed p.11).
  3. Obtain the OS-specific Connect Hub from Connect, install it and sign in to Hub with that ID (pp.12–13).
  4. Follow the manufacturer’s printer-registration procedure, select that machine in Hub and use its VersaWorks 7 installation item (pp.14–15).
  5. Check the BN2 Utility and RIP connection/settings in the manuals. If discovery fails, compare Ethernet and subnet configuration with the administrator first.

Current platform versions and OS-source scope

Checked the actual OS-specific Software rows and linked general OS list on 3 November 2026. Versions below are portal listing values; the installer files themselves were not inspected.

ItemCurrent listing and scope
Connect HubUnder BN2-20/20A/30 → Software → Roland DG Connect / Connect Hub: Installer / Updater 3.2.6, listed 24 September 2026.
Windows RIPThe VersaWorks 7 parent row says 7.8.2, while its for Windows child says 7.8.1, 7 October 2026. Use the OS-specific row when identifying a package.
Mac RIPThe for Mac child lists 7.8.2, 28 October 2026. Also check the exact-model R6 requirements for macOS 26/15/14 and Apple Silicon.
PPDA separate PPD item is labeled macOS 10.13, 27 March 2025. That label alone does not establish full VersaWorks 7, Connect Hub or BN2 Utility support on 10.13.
OS-list scopeThe general OS list shows Windows 11 for BN2 Utility, Connect Hub, Designer and VersaWorks 7. Keep that source distinct from the model-specific R6 Mac requirements; an omission here does not establish no Mac support.

The OS page states that vendor software support for Windows 10 ended on 14 October 2025. Its linked English support-period policy provides support for the latest software version and excludes firmware from that software definition. A remaining older file listing does not establish current support.

BN2-20A model and Ethernet checks

CheckCheck and next step
InkBN2-20A is four-color CMYK. Do not import the shared manual’s BN2-20 white-ink procedures.
EthernetThe printer uses 100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T Ethernet. Do not assume USB/Wi-Fi printing. Green LAN status indicates communication availability; flashing orange activity indicates received data (user p.91).
Media / output widthSpecifications give a 150–515mm media width and a maximum 480mm print/cut width. Media width and usable output width differ (p.313).

If Hub cannot discover it, start with the network/subnet checks on installation p.17. Ask the administrator for valid addresses before copying a direct-connection static-IP example into an existing network.

Check output readiness first

  1. User p.288: load the appropriate media, lower the loading lever and finish Utility Setup.
  2. Confirm Output possible. at the top of Utility and close covers. Some setting menus delay output; return to the home screen to check readiness.
  3. For Output is currently paused., check the job/media and use Resume when appropriate. Resolve the specific ink error before retrying.

Nozzle test and normal cleaning

  1. After installation and media setup, choose Cleaning on the Utility home screen. This uses the computer Utility; it is not a standalone button self-test.
  2. Select Output to print the nozzle test pattern (user p.100 / PDF p.101).
  3. Missing blocks indicate dropout; collapsed or slanted blocks indicate displacement. If present, use Head Cleaning → Normal Cleaning → Execute and compare another pattern (p.102).
  4. Close the front cover if opened, then use Close to return. If the pattern is sound but design jobs fail, compare RIP, media and connection settings separately.

Seven sub-power LED states and selected errors

LED states follow user printed p.14 (PDF p.15). Keep them separate from LAN connector LEDs. Error labels below are Utility messages; no numeric codes were inferred.

CheckCheck and next step
OffSub power is off.
Steady yellowMedia setup is complete and output is available.
Flashing yellowPaused or heater warming; compare the Utility status.
Steady greenPrinting or cutting is in progress.
Steady blueMedia is not set up, including during maintenance.
Flashing blueSleeping or shutting down; this is distinct from a red fault.
Steady redA device abnormality; read the exact Utility message.
CheckCheck and next step
Ink Cartridge ErrorUse the detailed text/icon to distinguish empty, low, removed and wrong-color cartridges (p.295).
Cover Open ErrorCheck and close open covers; opening a cover can stop operation for safety (p.295).
Media End ErrorMedia ran short during output or was absent during feeding; set new media before resending (p.295).
Loading Lever ErrorThe lever was raised during/after setup; lower it and repeat Setup (p.296).
Replace the drain pack. The drain pack reached its limit; follow the official replacement procedure and protect its recognition protrusion (p.296).
The connection to the unit was lost.Check main-power loss, changed IP or disconnected LAN cable (p.298).
Low / High
Temp. Error
Low Temperature Error / High Temperature Error: stop and switch sub power off; restore the location and machine to the 20–32°C operating range and allow acclimatization before restarting (p.299).
Service CallRecord the number shown in Utility, switch main power off and report it to the authorized dealer (p.300).

Routine power care and the service exception

User p.40 keeps main power on for routine automatic maintenance and cautions against suddenly removing main power during operation. Service Call is a specific exception: p.300 says record the number, switch main power off and contact the dealer. Apply the instruction for the actual condition.

Consult the separate official procedures for stronger/manual cleaning, ink circulation, jams and head-carriage handling. Do not apply a white-ink circulation instruction on the assumption that BN2-20A has white ink.
