Get official Print Utility for SG500
Open official Print Utility downloadsChoose Windows or macOS. After installation, signing in with a Sawgrass account lets Print Utility guide the correct model-driver setup. Follow its USB connection and power prompts.
Current Print Utility requirements and installation roles
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| Windows | Current requirements list Windows 10/11 64-bit and explicitly exclude Windows ARM, including Qualcomm or Snapdragon. The same document notes Microsoft’s end of Windows 10 support. |
| macOS | The current requirements list macOS 15.x, 26.x and 27.x and state native Apple Silicon support. Compare the actual OS with the latest list before installing. |
| Common | Requires a 64-bit CPU, at least 8GB RAM and 2GB free storage. Internet access is required for Print Utility sign-in. |
Official current system requirements
Normal OS selection on 27 October 2026 linked to SawgrassPrintUtilitySetup.exe for Windows and SawgrassPrintUtility.dmg for Mac. The public selector does not establish an individual driver version, build date, signature or runtime result. Use current Print Utility requirements instead of the product FAQ’s older Windows 8/Mac 10.13 minimums.
Design software creates artwork; Print Utility manages color, media, layout and output. If printer setup does not start after installation, the official route is Settings → Printers → Add a Printer. Account sign-in and model-driver installation are separate steps.
Official setup and model-driver guidance
Check the SG500 regional model and ink configuration
SG500 is a desktop printer for smaller transfer jobs. Keep its setup distinct from SG1000 paper sizes and SG400 drivers. Compare the rear label with SG500NA/SG500EU in the manual; check the current wireless exception for the separate EUX version. Additional and bypass trays are optional.
Ordinary CMYK sublimation and VersiFlex configurations need different pattern interpretation and media settings. Use instructions for the fitted ink system. This guide does not prescribe an ink conversion.
USB installation order and regional Wi-Fi support
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| USB 2.0 | With the printer off, open the left port cover and connect Type-B to the printer and Type-A to the PC. Turn it on when the installer directs; follow the installer’s exact connection prompt. |
| Ethernet | Uses a 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX port. Connect to the router/switch and check that the actual LAN Type is Ethernet. Distinguish this from USB and wireless setup. |
| Wi-Fi | Current official help limits Wi-Fi to EU/NA models and excludes EUX. On a supported unit, check 2.4GHz, the same printer/PC SSID and the Wireless LAN setting. |
Official USB/Ethernet setup · Official Wi-Fi/EUX exception
The LAN Type path is Menu → System Settings → Interface Settings → Network → LAN Type. Check the fitted hardware and cable before changing an existing connection. The manual and online help describe Ethernet LEDs differently, so color alone is insufficient to diagnose a speed or fault.
Use a device nozzle pattern to separate PC failures
- Load paper and press Menu.
- Use up/down to select Print Features (Printer Features in current help), then OK.
- Select ListTest Prnt (List/Test Print in current help), then OK.
- Select Nozzle Check Pattern and press OK.
- Use the Print selection key below the screen to print.
- For an ordinary CMYK pattern, inspect missing/broken lines and the head numbers above the colors.
Current nozzle guidance says the VersiFlex E channel is intentionally absent from the pattern. Do not treat that absence as an ordinary CMYK clog and repeat cleaning.

Match the head and check cleaning limits
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| Head 1 | Cyan/Black in the ordinary CMYK configuration; check these colors on the pattern. |
| Head 2 | Yellow/Magenta in the ordinary CMYK configuration. |
| All Heads | Cleans all heads. Choose the affected head where appropriate and check ink status first. |
Under Menu → Print Features → ListTest Prnt → Head-cleaning, select the head and confirm with OK. Cleaning consumes ink; keep power on during the cycle and compare a fresh pattern afterwards. For Cartridge Almost Empty/Empty, address the ink message first.
This PDF limits cleaning to five attempts and flushing to one; preventive-maintenance help gives three cleans and up to five flushes. Do not combine those limits into a repeated cleaning recipe. Record the pattern, ink configuration, collector state and work already done, then confirm the applicable procedure with Sawgrass before flushing.

SG500 cause checks when printing fails
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| Device alert | Read the full LCD text and check the matching message. |
| PC driver / account | If the device pattern is good but PC jobs fail, compare SG500 downloads, Print Utility sign-in, model setup and OS/CPU. This is a common host-side check. |
| Connection | Check USB/power prompts, actual LAN Type and the EUX wireless exclusion. |
| Missing lines / banding | Check the device pattern and match the actual head/ink configuration. |
| Paper size / type | Match loaded stock, Tray Paper Settings and job settings. |
| Ink / collector | Distinguish Almost Empty/Empty and Almost Full/Full; address consumables first. |
Distinguish alerts by the full message
| Item | Check and action |
|---|---|
| Paper Size or Type Mismatch | Loaded paper and requested size/type differ. Match Tray Paper Settings and the job. |
| Paper Misfeed / Press Form Feed | Paper jam. Follow the Form Feed prompt and the manual procedure for the actual jam location. |
| Cartridge Almost Empty / Low Ink | Prepare ink for the indicated color. The manual advises against head cleaning/flushing in this state. |
| Cartridge Empty / Replace Ink Crtg | Replace the indicated cartridge. Cleaning/flushing cannot run with exhausted ink. |
| Prepare new Waste Collection Unit | The waste collector is nearly full; prepare a new unit. |
| Waste Collection Unit Full | Replace the waste collector. Do not substitute emptying it or resetting a counter alone. |
| SCXXX-XX / Call Service | Record the full service code and circumstances. If it returns after a normal restart, contact Sawgrass; do not invent meanings for individual numbers. |
Ready, Processing and Maintenance in process can indicate standby, printing and maintenance. Wait for active maintenance to finish. For failures limited to PC jobs, review the same SG500 driver guide.
Official evidence and verification scope
Checked 27 October 2026. The English manual currently linked by official Resources has 129 PDF pages. Links here use PDF order; printed page numbers are seven lower. Some later contents-page references differ from the body, so relevant body pages were checked directly. Product/OS selection and current official help were reviewed; installation, signature trust and physical printing were not tested.
