Choose Luban, Orca and serial components
| Check | Evidence and next check |
|---|---|
| Luban / Windows | The current page lists Luban 4.15.0 win-x64 EXE. Its x64 label does not establish native Windows ARM support. |
| Luban / Mac | Version 4.15.0 has separate mac-arm64 and mac-x64 DMG/ZIP choices. Match your Mac processor and check the release requirements. |
| Luban / Linux | Listed 4.15.0 formats are amd64 DEB, x64 TAR.GZ and x86_64 RPM. Product specifications limit tested Linux scope to Ubuntu; this is not every distribution or ARM. |
| Orca | The official Orca page currently lists 2.4.1 Windows installer and Mac universal DMG. Its 2.3.3 feature text and 2.3.1 structured metadata describe different fields. |
| CH34X serial | The Luban page links Windows V3.4 and Mac V1.4 CH34X components for missing serial ports. These are not prerequisites for Wi-Fi or USB media. The Mac link’s 10.14-or-later label alone does not certify current processors or OS releases. |
These are the actual page choices checked on 30 October 2026. Installer internals, signatures, minimum OS and runtime operation were not tested.
Production status and maintenance dates
The official 29 October 2026 notice includes J1/J1s in its EOL product lines. Existing owners retain the following support conditions.
| Check | Evidence and next check |
|---|---|
| Software | Bug fixes and compatibility maintenance: through 29 October 2028. Future third-party slicer compatibility is not guaranteed. |
| Firmware | Critical fixes and security patches: through 29 October 2029. This does not promise new features or add-ons. |
| Warranty / parts | Warranty follows the policy at purchase. Repairs, parts and technical help depend on the applicable support period and inventory; a new purchase does not restart these dates. |

Separate direct networking, bridging and USB
| Check | Evidence and next check |
|---|---|
| Direct network | The J1/J1s Orca guide names firmware V2.8.0 and the actual device IP:8080 with Octo/Klipper. This differs from the marketing page’s future-support note. Match your firmware to the model guide before configuring; no upgrade is performed here. |
| Luban bridge | The older Orca Slicer guide uses Luban 4.14.0+ over Wi-Fi as a 127.0.0.1:5000 bridge. Loopback means your computer, not the printer. The official error article describes changing the bridge port to 5008 in Luban 4.15+. |
| USB | Product specifications list both USB cable and USB flash drive. The exact J1s quick start transfers G-code via Wi-Fi or USB media. A cable listing alone does not establish a Windows document-print queue or every Orca serial workflow. |
Luban Wi-Fi uses the same network for computer and printer, then device selection in Workspace and approval on the touchscreen. These local workflows do not require opening router ports to the Internet. Official Wi-Fi steps
Compare G-code transfer paths
This comparison isolates file and transfer paths on an already prepared machine; it is not a standalone self-test. Complete assembly and the initial touchscreen wizard first.
- Select the J1s model, nozzle and material presets, then slice to G-code. This differs from a normal Windows document-print command.
- Follow quick-start printed pages 14–15 to transfer via Wi-Fi or USB media. Check the target file in the touchscreen home file area, then follow its prompts.
- Compare the same file over USB media and Wi-Fi. USB success narrows a Wi-Fi-only failure toward connection setup; the same failure on both paths also needs profile, material and machine checks. Observe the first layer.
Match model, nozzle and print mode
Check the profile and build area for the J1s default, backup, copy or mirror mode. Do not automatically apply another Snapmaker model or U1 features. Separate STL/OBJ/3MF model input from G-code output, then inspect the nozzle and arrangement in the slicing preview.
Connection errors and calibration symptoms
| Check | Evidence and next check |
|---|---|
| Error 7 / 5000 | Orca’s failure to connect to 127.0.0.1 port 5000 is a computer bridge error. Official causes include Luban not running/connected or AirPlay Receiver occupying the port. Keep it separate from direct port 8080 access. |
| Direct access fails | Compare the real printer IP, applicable firmware and model-specific Orca guide. Replacing it with loopback does not check the printer address. |
| Nozzle presses bed | The J1(s) calibration article lists an open probe circuit or damaged FFC ribbon cable as possible causes. Record the behavior for support instead of repeatedly forcing calibration. |
| Fails before contact | The article distinguishes possible left-hotend PT100 or black fan-wire contact with the casing. This symptom alone does not prove a failed part or require PC driver reinstallation. |
| Bed drops before contact | Unlike the previous branch, the article identifies the right-hotend signal/fan wiring. Record the side and movement for support; this guide does not prescribe disassembly or continuity testing. |
Orca bridge error reference · J1(s) calibration reference Error 7 is an application connection error; no numeric printer fault code is invented here.
Choose the next check by symptom
| Check | Evidence and next check |
|---|---|
| Software / serial setup | Check OS/CPU and required components at this J1s official download section. A Wi-Fi failure does not automatically need a serial driver. |
| Package choice | Compare Luban and Orca file choices. Firmware is separate from the computer slicer. |
| USB media succeeds | Identify your actual direct 8080 or bridged 5000 path. |
| Both paths fail | Record the same-file comparison and the touchscreen behavior. |
| Wrong arrangement / mode | Review J1s model, nozzle and mode presets and preview. |
| Abnormal calibration motion | Distinguish side, contact and dropping behavior for support. |
