H-427+ official drivers and documentation

Open the manufacturer’s H-Series page and its Software and drivers tab. Confirm H-427+ on the hardware label; H-427 without the plus and the other H-Series models are separate choices.

Confirm the 203 dpi H-427+ label

H-427+ is the 203 dpi, four-inch thermal-transfer/direct-thermal model. The specification gives a maximum print width of 104 mm; standard label-stock width is 25.4–118 mm, which is a different measurement. The shared 30 June 2020 manual explicitly includes H-427+.

Current Windows / CUPS files and software roles

ItemCheck
Windows print driverTharo-Windows-Driver-3.3.0.zip is the current file linked as Windows 8, 10 and 11 on the model page. This is a filename/listing check; CPU payload, signing and installation were not tested.
EASYLABEL StartLabel-design and printer-output software. The model manual says EASYLABEL output does not require the Windows printer driver; other Windows applications do. The separate 64-bit START download is an application, not proof of driver CPU support.
CUPS for Mac / LinuxTharo-CUPS-Driver-3.1.0.tar.gz is linked separately. The official CUPS sheet says tested through macOS Monterey 12.2 and describes compiling on the Linux/Unix print host. It does not establish current macOS 26, ARM64 or every CUPS version.
NetSettingAn Ethernet configuration utility, separate from the print driver. Preserve working network values and use the actual printer address.
Firmware / licence toolsH-400 Plus firmware and EASYLABEL licence-key tools have different roles. They are not a general remedy for missing print drivers.

The 2020 manual’s Windows 8/10 thr.inf-before-USB procedure and older Found New Hardware screenshots are historical instructions. Do not treat them as a tested Windows 11 recipe. Follow the current package instructions for the actual host and select H-427+ / 203 dpi. Archive links returned HTTP 200 headers; no installer or archive contents were downloaded.

Separate PC USB, Host and wired connections

ItemCheck
PC USBUse the rear USB device port, shown with the PC connection in the manual. The rectangular USB Host port is a different connector.
EthernetStandard 10/100 Ethernet. Compare the real network address and selected host queue; sample report addresses are not settings to copy.
RS-232Standard DB-9 serial connection. Match the actual port and communication settings; the report’s sample serial line is not a universal default.
USB Host / optionsUSB Host is for supported standalone/file/keyboard uses. Parallel, applicator, cutter, dispenser and rewinder are fitted options; their presence is not proved by a shared driver or sample report.

Thermal mode, ribbon and the media sensor path

Match Direct Thermal (thermal paper, no ribbon) or Thermal Transfer (suitable labels plus ribbon) in the printer, driver and application. Load labels against the inner wall, through the movable sensor and toward the tear-off plate; bring the outside guide to the media edge without crushing it. Close and latch the print mechanism and top cover. For ribbon, follow the ink-in/ink-out diagram and keep the ribbon out from under the movable label sensor.

Distinguish FEED, pause and cancel

The front POWER key turns the printer on; holding it for three seconds turns it off. A normal FEED advances a length of continuous stock or one gap/black-mark label. During a print job, a short FEED pauses/resumes; holding FEED for three seconds cancels the current printer job. This does not verify that the host queue has been cleared. Before accessories are attached or removed, switch off and disconnect the rear power cord.

Calibration and Self Test store label height

  1. Confirm correct label/ribbon loading and preserve the working media settings. This sequence calibrates and stores label height before printing; it is not a read-only status query.
  2. With the printer off, hold FEED, then turn it on while continuing to hold FEED.
  3. Release FEED when the LED begins flashing red. Let label calibration finish.
  4. The printer then prints the Self Test label. Compare its actual model, USB ID, serial/network and media values with the host configuration. Keep serial numbers and network details private.

The illustrated H-427+ V1.R91, USB serial, port states and memory values are examples, not a verified installed firmware version, current defaults or fitted-option list. If this device-only test works but host output fails, compare the same-model driver and queue.

H-427+ label-printing checks

Seven LCD / beep alert groups

Compare the LCD wording and beep group together. Paper and file faults share 2 × 2 beeps. These are seven documented message groups, not invented numeric fault codes.

ItemCheck
Printhead Open2 × 4 beeps: the print mechanism is not locked. Reopen and close it correctly; avoid hot/moving parts.
TPH overheatNo beeps in this row. Let the head cool; the manual says the printer returns to standby when cool. No fixed cooling time is specified here.
Check Ribbon2 × 3 beeps: either direct-thermal stock is being used in the wrong mode, or ribbon is exhausted / the supply is not moving. Compare the mode and ribbon path.
Check Paper Setting2 × 2 beeps: labels may be absent, the sensor may miss the gap/mark, or media may be trapped around the roller. Check stock, path and sensor before calibration.
Memory full2 × 2 beeps; the printed message is “File System full”. Preserve stored formats and review capacity with the administrator before removing anything.
File name can't be found2 × 2 beeps; the printed message is “File Name not found”. Check the intended stored file and its exact name. No raw printer command is needed for this guide.
File name duplicated2 × 2 beeps; the printed message is “Duplicate Name”. A file already has that name; review naming before another transfer and preserve the working file.

The rear calibration button is a separate function

The rear Calibration button, held for two seconds, starts label calibration when changing stock type. It learns media; the manual describes it separately from the startup FEED calibration-plus-Self-Test sequence. Use the correct gap, black-mark or continuous stock and preserve working settings before changing it.

Head care and persistent faults

For the documented head-cleaning procedure, power off, allow a hot head to cool, open the cover, remove ribbon and release the printhead lever. Use the specified cleaning pen or a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol on the head surface. The manual requires 2–3 minutes drying before power-on and recommends weekly or media-change cleaning. Do not apply this solvent to every component, touch the head glass with bare fingers, or use hard/sharp tools. Persistent faults need the reseller; do not improvise head replacement, pressure/line adjustments, cutter repair, memory clearing or firmware flashing.
