Official Epic 950 support and driver availability
Open official Epic 950 supportThe manufacturer lists no print driver for Epic 950: the printer communicates directly with its host machine. Read the exact model driver FAQ before looking for a PC print-driver package.
Separate download-cable tools from print drivers
| Check | Check and next step |
|---|---|
| Host link | Match the real host interface, protocol and configuration. Do not substitute another receipt-printer driver. |
| Cable tools | The listed 95-13318L USB Download Cable Drivers concern the download cable, not a normal Epic 950 PC print queue. |
| Utilities | Windows labels on firmware, bench or OCX tools describe those tools. They do not establish all-OS/CPU printing. The equipment operator must verify approved firmware for the specific host. |
Match Epic 950 and its actual communication board
Epic 950 is a thermal ticket printer. Rev H identifies 203dpi and modular communication boards. Keep Epic Edge, Epic TR80 and other revisions distinct.
| Check | Check and next step |
|---|---|
| RS-232 | Have the operator match the serial board, host cable and settings. Do not overwrite a working system with example defaults. |
| USB | Distinguish the host USB interface from the service download port. Do not assume PC USB power or a generic cable. |
| NETPLEX | NETPLEX, Universal and Dual Port configurations have separate board/host requirements. NETPLEX does not mean Ethernet; these sources do not add LAN or Wi-Fi. |
Thermal fan-fold tickets and Black Dot orientation
- Use approved thermal fan-fold tickets for the fitted bucket. Do not apply generic receipt-roll or thermal-transfer ribbon instructions.
- Follow the unit label and official figure: place the Black Dot/Top of Form at the leading edge, not near the next ticket perforation.
- The guide loads tickets with printer power present. Guide the first ticket into the inlet; the Top of Form sensor starts automatic feeding. Avoid forcing the stock.
- Check feeding and orientation, then return the Inner Chassis to its normal position if extended for service. Read READY/PAPER/OPEN/FAULT together.
Release FEED when OPEN goes out for self-test
The equipment operator should preserve host work and follow the equipment service procedure. Self-test prints a test ticket with current configuration information.
- Extend the Inner Chassis to the documented service position.
- Open the Ticket Cover; keep the currently loaded ticket in place.
- Hold FEED until the OPEN LED goes out, then release. Use that indicator, not an invented time or another LED count.
- Close the Ticket Cover to print the self-test ticket.
- Return the Inner Chassis to its closed position. Printed details vary with version and revision.
Eight common states: read all four indicators
Order: READY / PAPER / OPEN / FAULT. ON, OFF and BLINK describe lamps, not numeric display error codes.

| Cover open | ON / OFF / ON / OFF Check Ticket Cover closure |
| Chassis open | ON / OFF / BLINK / OFF Check the Inner Chassis position |
| Ticket out | ON / ON / OFF / OFF Check approved stock, orientation and feeding |

Keep the current FAQ and older guide in scope
The table selects eight states shared by both sources. The current FAQ separately lists Boot Load/Config modes, while Rev H has a Checksum row. Do not merge the remaining rows into a universal code table; read the full pattern and actual version.
For persistent faults, give support the model, board, host, complete LED pattern and self-test result. Internal repair, host resets and firmware replacement are not routine print-driver fixes.
Cause checks and this model support guide
These comparisons separate device, ticket and host-integration issues. Even when looking for a PC driver, first check the exact Epic 950 availability statement.
