Official Cura for S8
Open official S8 downloadsCura slices a 3D model into an S8 print job. Choose the file for the actual OS/CPU, then match the S8 profile, fitted cores and materials.
Current Cura files and OS choices
| Check | Evidence and next check |
|---|---|
| Windows | The official page labels Cura 5.13 as stable and links 5.13.0 win64-X64 EXE/MSI files. Check the actual OS and CPU. These choices do not establish Windows ARM support or successful installation. |
| Mac | Separate Intel X64 and Apple Silicon ARM64 DMG/PKG files are linked. Match the Mac CPU and check the release’s minimum OS and graphics requirements in official support material. |
| Linux | Linux X64 AppImage and a separate AppImage.asc are linked. The asc file is signature material, not the application. Detailed minimum OS/GPU requirements, binary signatures and actual runtime were not verified here. |
S8 model, cores and materials
| Check | Evidence and next check |
|---|---|
| Model | S8 is a dual-extrusion FDM printer using 2.85mm filament. The manual lists a 330×240×300mm build volume; front USB serves print files. Select the S8 profile and the actual material specification. |
| Cores | AA+/CC+ are optimized for high flow; BB/DD have application-specific conditions. Distinguish the legacy AA/CC pre-sliced-job exception from supported Cura profiles. |
| Material | Match the S8 material conditions in section 4.2 to the fitted core. Section 6.4 says PLA in CC+ is blocked because of severe under-extrusion risk. Material Station is a separate configuration. |
Cura-to-S8 job paths
The manual distinguishes Wi-Fi 2.4/5GHz, Gigabit Ethernet and USB print-file workflows. Add S8 in Cura, match cores/materials and slice. Digital Factory is the account/cloud-management route; offline printing saves the prepared job to USB. Common PC checks compare the actual network, selected printer and destination.
S8 profile, preview and delivery checks
These three groups summarize print preparation in section 4.4. They check a job before printing and are not a device self-test report.
- Add S8 in Cura and open the 3D model. Match the fitted print cores, materials, profile and resolution.
- After Slice, use Preview to inspect layers, line types, internal structure and gaps. Resolve printer/core/material mismatch warnings first.
- Send to the actual LAN/Digital Factory destination or save the sliced job to USB. The printer’s Status overview starts USB jobs. Distinguish a source model from the prepared print file.
Network, USB and cloud routes
| Check | Evidence and next check |
|---|---|
| Network | Compare Cura’s network destination with the connected S8. A front USB socket alone does not establish a PC USB print queue or direct cable-printing workflow. |
| USB | Section 4.1 starts USB jobs from Status; section 4.4 saves the sliced file to a USB drive. Use a job prepared for the S8 profile, cores and materials. |
| Cloud | Digital Factory’s Cura Cloud slices and queues jobs in the cloud. Distinguish it from desktop Cura and confirm the workspace and selected S8. No account or trial was activated in this verification. |
Check the displayed or printed condition
| Check | Evidence and next check |
|---|---|
| Config | A job/core/material mismatch may produce a configuration-change request. Not every warning has an ER number; record the exact text and the fitted cores/materials. |
| Flow pause | An empty or tangled spool, or a blocked core, can cause a flow pause. Distinguish material supply from the feed path; consult the official assisted procedure for a blockage. |
| Adhesion | Compare material temperatures, adhesion settings, a default Cura profile and build-plate condition. Keep hands out during operation and while the plate is hot. |
| Extrusion | Distinguish damp material, path friction, custom high-speed settings and core mismatch. Compare a default profile and observe the manual’s CC+/PLA restriction. |
| Core ID | Dirty contacts are a possible cause when the core chip cannot be read. First check core compatibility, then use official instructions or support. Do not touch contacts with fingers. |
| ER / logs | Record the displayed ER/QR guidance and message. Support requests use the rear BPP- serial, Cura project, images and Options → Maintenance → Diagnostics → Save log files to USB. Follow the actual code’s official guidance. |
