Official Columbia/Delta driver
Open official Columbia driver filesThis guide covers the Columbia braille and tactile-graphics embosser. Choose the actual OS on the manufacturer’s shared Columbia/Delta driver page.
Separate release numbers from OS names
| Check | Details |
|---|---|
| Windows | The listed ZIP is 11.110.50.65. That is a driver release number; it does not by itself identify Windows 11 or ARM support. |
| Mac | The ZIP is 10.15.50.65; the page lists Mac OS 10.9+. Keep driver release and OS minimum separate, and check the actual Mac CPU. |
| Linux | The linked TGZ filename contains tiger-3.2.46+deb7u1, x86_64 and 10.10.30.16. It does not establish support for every current distribution or ARM. |
Braille preparation, connections and options
The manual describes double-sided braille text and single-sided tactile graphics. Prepare braille with TSS or compatible translation software, and use the device driver for output settings. Ordinary text requires appropriate braille translation.
| Check | Details |
|---|---|
| Braille | Untranslated text can become raised letter shapes, depending on settings. Simple braille-font substitution does not provide full contractions or symbol translation (PDF page 40). |
| USB / LAN | USB and wired Ethernet are documented. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi use the optional TigerBox. |
| Audio | The audio output requires a powered external speaker because the embosser has no onboard audio amplifier (PDF pages 12 and 34). |
| Color ink | Color InkConnect is a separate option with a separate driver entry. Distinguish embossing from color-ink capability. |
Compare the onboard demo with PC jobs
- Complete initial unpacking and the carriage shipping-lock check. Load tractor-feed paper correctly and close the paper cover.
- PDF page 34 describes holding Cancel while powering on to emboss a demo page.
- Compare the demo with a PC document. Common PC check: if the demo succeeds and the document fails, check the connection, queue and this model’s driver.
A separate Windows-driver path is Printer Properties → Service → Print Test Page. It requires PC communication and loaded paper (PDF pages 22–23); distinguish it from the power-on Cancel demo.
Three normal states and two faults
LED1 is red, LED2 green and LED3/4 yellow. All lights on and all lights blinking are different indications. Five selected rows follow.
| Check | Details |
|---|---|
| 10094 | Online/Standby, LED2 on: a normal ready state. |
| 10002 | Offline, LED1 on: during standby, Cancel toggles online/offline. |
| 10098 | Embossing, LED2 on and LED4 blinking: embossing in progress. |
| 41100 | Paper load error, LED2 on and LED3/4 blinking. Possible causes include absent/exhausted paper or a blocked top-of-form path. |
| 50007 | The official FAQ describes initialization failure with all four LEDs on. Several causes are possible; do not diagnose a single SD-card or board fault. Check the documented shipping lock and seek support if it persists. |
Paper loading and faint interpoint dots
| Check | Details |
|---|---|
| 41100 | Check paper, tractor loading and obstruction. After correct loading, Down starts/resumes output. 41100 is not a unique jam diagnosis. |
| Faint dots | For faint dots on one side of interpoint output, compare the actual paper with Media Type under Printing Preferences → Paper/Media. Lighter paper can make this more noticeable. |
| Default | Check Legacy Settings for default media. The FAQ calls its tab Printer Settings; the manual shows Device Settings. The embosser must be powered and connected. |

Only a beep: check the driver/firmware pairing
The official FAQ describes a 2018 change: older Columbia/Delta firmware paired with a newer driver can prevent operation. Check the model-specific pairing through official support before repeating driver reinstallation.
The Service display provides the driver version, printer serial number and firmware version to share with support (PDF page 22). Firmware is separate from the driver.
