Official driver
Choose Windows 11 on Epson’s US support page to find Advanced Printer Driver v4.59a, listed as APD_459aWM_L90LF_e.exe. Check this entry for a Windows print queue. TMUSB v800d is a separate USB device component. Use the OPOS or JavaPOS component if your POS software calls for it.
Check the operating system and component on Epson’s page. This check covers the download listing. Installation and operation on Windows on ARM were outside the check.
Model and connections
Epson’s TM-L90II LFC product page describes the label-taken sensor and back-feed. Those features identify the 68* group in the technical guide. Check your unit label and fitted ports. Host USB is built in. RS-232C, Ethernet and optional wireless LAN depend on the configuration. Use the computer USB port for the host connection.
The listed widths are 40, 58 and 80 mm. Match the installed guide and width settings, and consult Epson’s tested media list for adhesive labels. If the printer has already been used with a narrower width, follow the page 25 restriction on moving to a wider roll because the head and cutter may have worn.
Printer self-test
- Load paper and close the roll cover.
- With power off, hold FEED while switching on. Release the button once printing starts.
- When the instructions to continue the self-test print, tap FEED for less than one second. The printer outputs a character pattern and completion message, then returns to standard mode.
Use the report to compare the interface, paper width, media type and paper removal standby setting with the fitted hardware.
Label removal standby
If a batch stops after one label, check the outlet first. When paper removal standby is enabled and an issued label is still there, take it and check whether the next label prints. The lights are Power on / Error off / Paper flashing. The same lights can appear while waiting to continue a self-test or run a macro, so check the current operation and the outlet as well. FEED can be inactive while the printer is waiting for label removal.
LEDs and printing problems
- Paper on, Error off. The roll is nearly empty. Check the remaining paper.
- Paper and Error both on. The roll is empty. Load suitable media and close the cover.
- Cover opened during printing or head too hot. Close the cover and let the head cool. Pages 18–19 explain why a cover opened during printing can require recovery, depending on the setting.
- Paper jam. Turn off the printer, open the cover and remove the jam. Keep hands away from the hot head after printing. If the cover stays locked, see page 67 of Epson’s manual.
- Self-test prints, but the PC job fails. As a general check, verify the selected printer and actual connection port, then see the TM-L90II LFC driver.
