7199 official Windows driver request list

The official Windows Printer Driver page lists 7199 Receipt under Next Gen POS Printers. Use its request route for the 32-bit or 64-bit file; the separate 7199 page chiefly lists firmware and utilities.

Identify the original 7199 versus 7199ii

This guide covers the original 7199, called Series i in the shared manual. The official download index has separate 7199 and 7199ii entries. Confirm the full hardware label; do not transfer Series ii speed, backfeed or Feed-button USB-changing instructions to Series i. The comparison table lists 203 dpi thermal receipt printing.

Windows file requests and POS components

ItemCheck
32-bit Windows driverThe current list shows NCR POS Printer Driver 6.0.8 in .exe and .msi forms. The displayed route requests the file from NCR Voyix; a direct public installer link was not verified.
64-bit Windows driverThe separate list shows 6.1.7 in .exe and .msi forms, also by request. A 64-bit label alone does not establish Windows ARM64 support.
USB Printer Class / LANThis is a Windows printer-API driver route. The list requires the 7199 printer settings to match USB Printer Class when using that interface; it is not the same role as a Virtual COM Port driver.
POS application componentsThe manual lists OPOS/JavaPOS for Windows and Linux separately from Windows Printer API and Virtual COM USB. Match the actual POS profile and interface; no current Linux CUPS or Mac package is established here.
Firmware and utilitiesThe model page lists 99.xx firmware and Flash, Configuration and Network utilities. These are not interchangeable with the Windows print driver. No firmware update is prescribed as a general printing fix.

The driver rows recommend Windows 11/10/7, while their Supported OS line still lists Windows 10, Windows Professional 7 and XP Pro SP3. Preserve this discrepancy and ask for the package supported on the actual host. No installer, CPU payload, signature, EULA or runtime test was reviewed. The request link is not an instant-download promise.

Fitted interfaces and cable connections

ItemCheck
USBUSB/Power is standard in the comparison table. A data connection must use the actual USB port and correct host software interface.
RS-232 serialOptional; compare the fitted communication board, cable and application port settings.
Ethernet / LANOptional; confirm the installed board and actual network settings before choosing a LAN queue.
Cash drawer / RJ12This is a separate drawer connection, not a USB or network port. The manual warns not to insert USB into the drawer connector and not to use a drawer below 24 ohms.

Thermal receipt roll: unroll from the bottom

Use the specified thermal receipt roll and fitted width setup. The comparison table gives 80 mm stock with an optional 58 mm configuration and up to 83 mm roll diameter. Open the receipt cover, remove the old roll, loosen the new leading edge and load it so paper unrolls from the bottom, extending a little over the front. Close the cover and tear off the excess. Reversed paper can leave its thermal surface on the wrong side.

Power and Paper Feed

There is no power button. Offline does not remove electrical power. Before connecting or disconnecting communication/drawer cables, disconnect supply power; connect communication and drawer cables before restoring power. For a host-powered installation, the POS terminal supplies power. A short Paper Feed press with the cover closed advances paper; it is not the configuration-form sequence below.

Print the configuration form while closing the cover

After startup, with power on and paper loaded: open the receipt top cover, press and hold Paper Feed, and close the top cover while holding it. Release Paper Feed when printing begins. This is the documented Configuration check. Holding Feed while disconnecting/reconnecting power instead opens an interactive Configuration Menu; do not change settings merely to obtain a comparison print.

Ten LED conditions: compare colour and count

These are documented Auto Mode indications. Flash groups pause for five seconds; the manual describes a 2 Hz blink cycle. In User Mode the host controls pattern and timing, so confirm the active mode before applying the table. These counts are LED patterns, not invented LCD error numbers.

ItemCheck
Green, steadyReady in the basic status table; colour alone does not certify the host queue. If it cannot feed and a black line appears during printing, the troubleshooting table also identifies a possible blown fuse: service.
Green, 1 flashPCB warning; contact service if it persists.
Green, 4 flashesPaper low; prepare the replacement roll. This differs from amber paper-out.
Amber, 2 flashesThermal head too hot; review room conditions and continuous dense graphics. Persistent overheating needs service.
Amber, 3 flashesReceipt cover open; close it.
Amber, 4 flashesPaper out; replace it. Do not continue transactions without paper because data can be lost.
Amber, 5 flashesPaper jam; use the exact model’s paper path and support procedure.
Amber, 6 flashesShared by cutter error and blown fuse; it is not a unique cutter diagnosis. Record symptoms and contact service for persistent faults.
Red, 1 flashMemory error; service.
Red, 2 flashesThermal head disconnected or abnormal head temperature; service.

Compare USB Type with the POS profile

Read Hardware → USB Type on the configuration form. NHPI identifies USB HID; EPiC identifies Virtual COM. The manual gives Series i’s factory setting as ION(EPiC), with NHPI the recommendation moving forward; this is not a reading of your printer. The selected mode must match the POS app’s OPOS/JavaPOS profile. Preserve working settings and consult the actual deployment plan before changing modes. The long Feed-button mode-changing shortcut is explicitly Series ii-only.

Persistent faults and service scope

Persistent PCB, memory, head, cutter or fuse symptoms need NCR Voyix service. Use the exact manual’s illustrated cutter sections and firmware conditions rather than another receipt printer’s reset. This guide does not prescribe internal repair, fuse replacement, raw commands, firmware flashing or a factory reset.
