This guide is for the 300 dpi portable direct-thermal document printer with usb 2.0 mini-b and wi-fi infrastructure/wireless direct; not a scan/copy all-in-one, and not the pj-763 bluetooth model or wired ethernet model Brother PJ-773. Operating-system and download checks

The Korean catalog lists these systems for checking: Actual PJ-773 Printer Driver 1.8.0c lists Windows 11, Windows 10 32/64-bit and Server 2022/2019/2016. Brother explicitly provides no Windows ARM driver. Initial Software/Document Installer 1.0.0.37 lists Server 2025, which does not establish that OS for the standalone 1.8.0c driver. Actual Mac Printer Driver 5.0.2 lists macOS 26/15/14/13 and PJ-773 even though the macOS 26 list request failed. No unverified Linux distribution, CPU or Apple Silicon-native compatibility is inferred.. Select your exact operating system and version on the official page. If your version is not offered, do not install a package intended for a different system.

Connection and installation

1. Confirm PJ-773, actual OS/CPU, rights, saved queues/jobs, proper mini-B data cable, designated thermal paper and correct supply/battery. Distinguish driver, setting tool, editor and firmware. The broad Brother cleanup tool can remove other product drivers and is not a routine step.
2. For Windows USB, the actual 1.8.0c instructions require unplugging USB before installation. Run the official extracted installer with administrator rights, choose USB and attach/power the printer at the real prompt. Select the actual PJ-773 queue, paper size and orientation, then test.
3. For router Wi-Fi, USB-connect and enable Wi-Fi with a one-second button press. In Printer Setting Tool, Communication Settings, General, choose Wireless LAN; in Wireless LAN, Wireless Settings choose Infrastructure. Search/select the real SSID, enter its passphrase and Apply. A steady blue Wi-Fi indicator confirms connection; keep PC/printer on the intended same network and add the real printer. Mac uses the matching Wireless Device Setup Wizard.
4. For Wireless Direct, verify its setting over USB in the tool: Windows General Selected Interface Wireless Direct, or Mac WirelessDirect On. A one-second Wi-Fi press enables it; select the actual DIRECT-*****_PJ-773 network and current device password. Holding five seconds enters WPS and can defeat Direct. Direct may disconnect Wi-Fi Internet; use infrastructure if appropriate.
5. Mac driver installation mounts the official DMG and runs its Brother PKG with administrator authentication, then adds the actual printer with matching software. Troubleshooting

Check power, data cable, direct USB port, queue and installer connection timing for USB failure. For Wi-Fi, distinguish Direct from Infrastructure, confirm the actual SSID/password, network and button duration rather than resetting all settings or disabling security. A steady green DATA indicator without output may mean incomplete page data: preserve jobs and follow the documented power-cycle only when not printing/updating firmware. For skewed paper, fully open the release cover, remove paper, close and reload; never pull forcibly or touch the thermal head. Persistent errors need official support.
