Connection and installation

  1. Check the exact model label, OS, CPU, installation rights, paper, toner, cables and installed options. Preserve working queues, ports, settings and jobs. Follow Korean Reference page 15 for the power / sleep button and confirmed shutdown. Never unplug while a Please wait message is displayed. Do not reset the printer, flash firmware or disable security as a routine setup step.
  2. USB: Reference page 16 switches the printer off before connecting the PC directly to the lower rear PC USB port. Do not use the upper option USB port or a hub. Switch on, follow the actual compatible package's prompts and select the exact 3960 S queue and USB port. The Software / Product Manual package's custom installation, driver and PCL menus are package-specific; not every web download has the same executable or interface. Match paper and options, then test a small job.
  3. Ethernet: Follow Reference pages 15–16: switch off, connect to the approved LAN and switch on. A secondary Ethernet port requires its actual optional kit. Page 21 describes Settings / Reports / Configuration Report to find the real IP address; match the device's actual language and firmware. Confirm the detected model, address and final print port. Ask the administrator about permitted protocols and access. Do not copy an example IP address or arbitrarily change shared IP, gateway or security settings. Test the correct queue, paper and options.
  4. Optional WLAN: first confirm that the wireless kit is installed. Reference pages 17–19 describe Settings / Admin menu / Network Port / TCP/IP / Wi-Fi Settings and searching for an access point or entering its SSID. Choose an approved SSID, authentication and encryption. Use WPS only on a supported, authorized router. Match the actual menu and version. Configuration changes may restart the printer, so check existing jobs first. Verify its actual IP address and network queue, then test printing. Do not assume built-in Wi-Fi or weaken encryption.

Troubleshooting

If there is no output, check power, the panel message, the actual cable, the selected queue and its port. Reference page 132 advises bringing the printer online and leaving setup menus for the print screen. For LAN problems, check the real IP address, enabled print port and protocol, approved PC network and receive restrictions with the administrator; do not disable security wholesale. Inspect only your own buffered job and preserve other users' jobs. For alignment problems, check paper, guides, size and margins. For faint output, check paper condition and type, toner-save settings and toner level before reinstalling a driver. Refer persistent drum or fuser faults to official support; do not disassemble the printer.
