Operating-system and download checks

The Korean catalog lists these systems for checking: The current model-specific Full Driver & Software Package F1 supports Windows 11 and Windows 10 32/64-bit. USB print/scan E1 and print driver 2.3.0.0 are separate downloads. Mac Full Software Package 2.03 explicitly lists macOS 13/14/15/26; the print-driver section recommends AirPrint, not a separate Mac printer-driver binary. Linux deb print driver 3.5.0-1 is available; the manufacturer does not guarantee every Linux environment. A global OS selector alone does not prove package support, including Windows ARM or older operating systems.. Select your exact operating system and version on the official page. If your version is not offered, do not install a package intended for a different system.

Connection and installation

1. Confirm the MFC-J1205W label, regional mains rating, exact OS/architecture, ink, paper, closed covers and removed packing materials. Save existing print settings.
2. For Windows USB installation, sign in with administrator rights and initially disconnect the interface cable. On Windows 11, consult the official model FAQ: under Settings, Bluetooth & devices, Printers & scanners, Printer preferences, turn off Default install printers using Windows Ready Print if that option is present; otherwise continue. Do not change organisational security policies indiscriminately.
3. Download the applicable official package, extract it, select the language and follow its connection prompts. Connect USB when requested. The USB port is under the document cover; route the cable through the channel and gently close the cover. Use a data cable no longer than 2 m.
4. Complete the whole installation before restarting when prompted. Select the actual model/queue and print a short test. The print-only package does not install scanning; use the applicable full or USB print/scan package for those functions.
5. For Wi-Fi, have the router SSID and password ready, run the model installer, select Wireless Network Connection (Wi-Fi), Next and follow its wizard. Confirm that the computer and printer use the intended local network. No Ethernet procedure is inferred.
6. For a supported Mac, verify the 2.03 package and follow its instructions. Add the actual printer in Printers & Scanners with AirPrint under Use. Install the applicable iPrint&Scan/Push Scan components separately when needed; do not call them a Mac printer driver.
7. Linux users should select the actual deb/rpm package and follow its own terminal installation notes. The confirmed deb driver does not establish support for every distribution or architecture.

Troubleshooting

If USB discovery fails on Windows 11, check the model-specific Ready Print FAQ, the data cable/port and power; restart and rerun the installer if its product-selection screen cannot find the machine. For Wi-Fi faults, press Wi-Fi and STOP together, then Wi-Fi, to print the WLAN report. TS-02 concerns router discovery; check power, distance, SSID and filtering. TS-05/06 concern network key/security mismatches; check case-sensitive credentials and supported encryption without removing security. Check installed scanning components and the selected model for print-only success. Resolve paper, ink and cover LED indications before reinstalling; do not reset the machine or remove every printer queue indiscriminately.
