Operating-system and download checks
The Korean catalog lists these systems for checking: Verified US Windows Full Driver & Software Package M1 (7 August 2026, 282.55 MB) explicitly includes MFC-J5340DW and Windows 11, Windows 10 32/64-bit. Mac Full Software Package 1.0.6 (25 September 2025, 23.38 MB) explicitly includes this model and macOS 13/14/15/26. The Mac Printer Driver Information entry recommends AirPrint, not a standalone print-driver file. iPrint&Scan and Push Scan Tool are distinct. Server/Linux/mobile menus do not prove individual file, distribution or CPU support; no Windows ARM/native Apple Silicon claim. Legacy file availability is not OS security support.. Select your exact operating system and version on the official page. If your version is not offered, do not install a package intended for a different system.
Connection and installation
- Confirm MFC-J5340DW, region, actual OS/CPU/permissions and saved queues/jobs/IP/media. Prepare correctly rated power, specified ink/paper, USB Type A/B cable no longer than 5 m or Cat5+ Ethernet. Official specs exclude third-party USB ports. Complete initial LCD setup and quality/alignment checks only when applicable; do not repeat initial ink preparation on an already configured machine. Review actual terms yourself.
- Windows M1 notes require Administrator login and disconnection of an existing interface cable before installation. Follow actual prompts; when asked, connect PC USB inside the scanner cover, not front memory USB or telephone LINE. Route the cable and close the cover following the guide. Select the real USB queue/port, match media and test print and scan separately.
- For Windows 11 USB, review official FAQ00100867 about default Windows Ready Print installation preferences and applicability. Ask the administrator about managed policy/security changes; no automatic settings change or blanket firewall disablement is prescribed.
- Ethernet: follow the disconnect/reconnect prompts, use the LAN socket inside the scanner cover and the approved network shared with the PC. Select wired connection and the real model. If discovery fails compare the current device network address with the PC port and use the installer's supported manual address route, never a sample IP. Respect VLAN/guest isolation policy.
- Wi-Fi: select Wi-Fi icon / Find Wi-Fi Network / Yes, select the approved SSID and enter its exact Network Key. Check Connected, use the same permitted LAN on the PC and install/register the actual device. Ask the administrator if credentials are unavailable. Infrastructure and Wi-Fi Direct are separate. Restart a shared router only with permission and after checking other users' work.
- macOS 13+: Apple menu / System Settings / Printers & Scanners / Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax; choose the real Brother device and its model name under Use, then Add, as the official AirPrint FAQ states. Follow the applicable Mac package prompts only for needed software; iPrint&Scan and Push Scan Tool are separate scan routes, not a standalone print driver. Test the actual scanner/app and supported single-sided original size; no A3 or duplex-ADF scan claim.
Troubleshooting
USB not found: check power, correct inner PC socket, data cable, prompted connection timing and actual queue. Review the Windows 11 FAQ and actual installer restart instructions if the model is absent. Finish jobs before reconnecting cables. Offline: compare real network state, same permitted LAN, current address/port and exact SSID/key. The Quick Setup Guide suggests cable checks, printer/PC restart and repeating connection setup, then official FAQs if persistent. Do not reset the router or weaken security by default.
Missing lines/colors: check the four blocks on the LCD-guided Print Quality Check Sheet and perform only the requested cleaning. For alignment follow the Adjustment Sheet orientation on the scanner glass. Avoid repeated intensive cleaning, head disassembly or factory resets as generic remedies. A working print queue is not a scan/fax test; preserve other working queues.
