Operating-system and download checks
The Korean catalog lists these systems for checking: Verified 8 October 2026: actual TD-4000 Windows 11 list and Printer Driver 6.20b detail, 10 December 2012, 4.32MB. Supported OS: Windows 11 and Windows 10 (64-bit); Compatible Model: TD-4000. Official page states no Windows ARM processor drivers. Other OS menus do not extend this file to 32-bit, Mac, Linux or Server. P-touch Editor is separate label software. Verify actual region/language/OS/CPU and terms yourself; legacy downloads do not guarantee OS security support.. Select your exact operating system and version on the official page. If your version is not offered, do not install a package intended for a different system.
Connection and installation
- Confirm exact TD-4000, OS/CPU, rights, RD roll and cable. Preserve queues/ports/media/application settings/jobs. No reset, firmware default or security warning bypass.
- Official guide pp15-16: do not connect USB before installer asks. Use current compatible official driver and its actual prompts, then connect rear USB to PC and follow power prompts. Prefer direct PC connection, included or 2m-or-shorter USB cable per official FAQ. Select actual TD-4000 queue/USB port, match RD size/type in driver and business app and test one label. Old CD/Vista screens are not current Windows 11 menus. Check P-touch Editor compatibility separately if needed.
- Serial only when required: verify manual p14 cable/pinout and 2m-or-shorter condition. Do not connect USB and RS-232C simultaneously. Preserve real working COM settings; coordinate actual business application/device parameters without guessed baud/parity. Ethernet/IP instructions apply only to TD-4100N, not TD-4000. No invented wireless pairing.
- RD loading: power off, follow official cover/roll-guide instructions, match label direction/width and pass media under gap sensor, close cover. Keep output path clear; no cutter dismantling.
Troubleshooting
USB detection: power, both cable ends, direct PC port or another USB port. No output: correct TD-4000 queue/actual port and offline status, preserving others' jobs. Roll/size/alignment errors: remaining RD roll, correct media size/type, guides and gap-sensor path. Orange steady: cover; orange flashing: cooling, wait instead of repeated jobs. Red flashing: actual roll-end/jam/wrong-roll or transmission error/message. Save work and coordinate shared users before restart. Cleanup Tool can remove files/registry for other Brother products; not a routine first step. Persistent errors need exact model/OS/CPU/connection/message for official support.
