Connection and installation
- Check the exact TSP654II label and installed interface. It is not a scanner or the separate SK label configuration. Prepare specified power, thermal paper, guide, and matching print width.
- For Windows USB, keep the cable disconnected until the StarPRNT driver is fully installed. Extract the Full package and run Setup in the setup folder, or run the Setup EXE; choose Typical, Install, Finish.
- Turn on the printer and connect USB to let Plug-and-Play add it. Check the actual device under Printers and scanners and test print.
- For LAN, connect Ethernet and read Current IP Parameters on the self-test. In Printer Utility Star PRNT select the model, Ethernet, Search Network, or enter its actual IP. Use Windows Printer Queue Management, Install Driver, Add, and Test Print.
- Wi-Fi dongle setup applies only to an IFBD-HI01X/02X interface with a supported dongle. Start via Ethernet and the Network Utility Page at the self-test IP; use Wireless Connection, Site Survey, SSID/password, Save, and Restart device. Change and safeguard management credentials. The guide specifies 2.4 GHz and WPA2/AES. Verify Wireless Status, disconnect Ethernet, read the wireless self-test IP, then add it using the Ethernet interface selection in the utility.
- Do not assume USB, LAN, WLAN, or AirPrint are all standard on every unit. Peripheral drive connectors are not telephone connections.
Troubleshooting
Check driver completion and actual USB connection if the device is missing. Match the self-test IP, selected device, and print queue for network failures; enter the current IP if discovery fails. Simultaneous four-second power/error flashing on the documented LAN interface can indicate a disconnected link. For paper jams turn power off, open the cover, remove jammed paper, and load the roll straight; close both sides fully. Avoid the hot head and cutter and do not pull paper through a closed cover. Restart for a locked cutter; if it persists consult the official recovery guide or support.
